When I drove for ups the rout was set for us, the trucks wereloadedin order of delivery and we did not have discretion to deliver where and when we wished. Unless the delivery driver is freelance   I suspect your wrath would e better spent on the delivery center supervisor who sets up the routes

Armco must have devastated so much more than just the company where my dad had worked for years, which they acquired then cast to the winds.

Much, much more. When I lived there in the mid-80s, people were still in shock that Armco had left them behind.

Good morning to everyone

And to you, too.  That's a nice new avatar, Michael!

In the 1950s, we were taught that Middletown was the best of all possible worlds ands Armco the best of all possible employers.

Oh, no!  I'm watching an episode of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.", and there was a commercial for a new show that's going to start on March 5...it's a TV series with the same name as the movie it's based on: "Time After Time."  Yup, a series about Jack the Ripper and H. G. Wells who travel through time to the present.  What WON'T be remade?? ::)

Hmmm.  Maybe the Ripper will only be in the first episode.

The problem with these time travel TV series is that they don't seem to go anywhere.

;D  Yup.

Much, much more. When I lived there in the mid-80s, people were still in shock that Armco had left them behind.

In the 1950s, we were taught that Middletown was the best of all possible worlds ands Armco the best of all possible employers.

That was the still the mindset when I moved here in 1973 and it blinded a lot of people to what needed to be done to progress into the 21st century - like becoming a great bedroom community for Cincinnati and Dayton.  The housing stock would still make that possible but so much infrastructure has deteriorated (schools, streets, etc.) that it's a hard sell.

Yes, the Armco/AK headquarters move was a huge brain drain, but the mill is still operational and the company is about to open their new research facility out by the hospital (and DR Elmore's property).

And good for Richard Maltby Jr. and David Shire.

I love the understatement in the first sentence of this movie review:

"The Lure," a Polish musical about man-eating teenage mermaids, is genuinely weird.

Right after lunch I reluctantly headed out to do my errands and didn't get far before suspecting a flat tire.  Sure enough, so I called Richard who came with Rob intending to put on the spare.  We couldn't figure out how to get to the spare, so Richard called AAA.  While he was still on the phone, Rob got to the spare, but Richard decided to let AAA handle it.  He sent Rob and me home and he's probably at Dempster's by now.  Wonder how many new tires I'll end up with today...

I got "Bells Are Ringing" on Blu ray yesterday and watched it last night.

Mostly splendid, especially that glorious stereophonic sound.

There is a nice featurette as an extra -- with Frank Gorshin and Hal Linden.

There are three extra songs...one of which is an "alternate" version of "The Midal Touch".

Betty Comden and Adolph Green also are featured (although this is old footage as both are deceased).
