For your edification:

"The Roman month Februarius was named after the Latin term februum, which means purification, via the purification ritual Februa held on February 15 (full moon) in the old lunar Roman calendar. January and February were the last two months to be added to the Roman calendar, since the Romans originally considered winter a monthless period. They were added by Numa Pompilius about 713 BC. February remained the last month of the calendar year until the time of the decemvirs (c. 450 BC), when it became the second month. At certain intervals February was truncated to 23 or 24 days, and a 27-day intercalary month, Intercalaris, was inserted immediately after February to realign the year with the seasons."

In other news...

...my congestion has not completely abated.  I occasionally get a scratchy throat and have to cough stuff out.

[ewww...gross...I know]

Still....

Been trying to nab a copy of this LP for years, so I jumped at this:

...and then I wrote The Music Man

Release date February 24, but it was in my mailbox today, surprise surprise.  Listening now.

Has anyone heard a peep out of former DR Danise lately?

Last report she was still recovering from her infection, kidney stone & surgery.  I just asked her on FB how she is doing.

I am not surprised.  I am still coughing, mostly in my throat though and nothing to be concerned about.

I had never known about the second LP included on this CD, called "The Music of Meredith Willson's The Music Man" and conducted by Willson.  It's damned nice.

I ordered this, too!  I haven't received my copy yet, though.  Hopefully, soon!

Not really political, but since the Statue of Liberty has been in the news so much lately, I put Skip's song "Lady in the Harbor" on the blog for his music and stuff.

Skip's song "Lady in the Harbor" - performed by Laura Benanti, Brian d'Arcy James and co.

I haven't been sitting here like so much fish.  Richard called to tell me that the tire place can't work on my car until tomorrow, so he'd walked to the library and could I pick him up.  From there we went to Kroger to do a few of the errands I'd set out earlier to do and now we're home.

Relaxing until stumble-through - got an e-mail this morning from a mom saying daughter is under the weather but they'll try to be here - I told them to try hard.  I believe "under the weather" is a euphemism for you-know-what.

It's not letting me listen. I have been singing Irving Berlin's glorious setting of the Emma Lazarus poem lately.

This day has flown by so very swiftly.

And we are expecting rain storms to move in tonight or tomorrow morning.

The sky today has been uniformly grey.  No rain, though.

And the air quality is very poor.  Lots of smog, apparently.

We are having a spare-the-air day.

One of my co-workers is SUCH a slave to fashion.  She wears a pair of shoes that have metal-tipped tassels that flop against the hard leather of her shoes when she walks.

She's quite noisy in them.
