Nice to meet you all.
I’ve lurked for a few months and enjoyed all your posts but I thought I might as well say hello.  And on this very special day, would like to say

DRHisaka, welcome to the Best Site on the Internet.  I hope you'll hang around for a while.

I just spent two hours writing up about my theatre trip.  When I posted, it said my message was too long and to go back and shorten it.  When I went back to do try.  It was gone.  I too tired to try and am suffering from a killer cold.  It will have to wait for another time.  Sorry.

I, too, am suffering with a cold and mild flu-like symptoms. I am praying that it won't settle in my throat so that I will have a voice for the videotaping of the show on Thursday night.

Keeping fingers crossed that I can stay healthy for the last week of our run.

DRMBarnum, I believe it's a form of white trash kitsch.  On the plus side, it's less room than having a used car sitting in your yard.

DRNOEL - I cannot find the entire quote.  I have checked Coward's Diaries, Mordden's R/H book, and a bio of Lorenz Hart.

The only reference I find is in Mary Rodgers' interview for PBS' GREAT PERFORMANCES in which she said:  "Noel Coward once said that Daddy 'just pissed melody.'"

There's a quote I need to get right.
It goes something like this: It was said of Richard Rodgers that he pissed melody.

What's the actual quote and who said it?  I have a feeling it might have been Noel Coward, but it doesn't sound like a very Cowardian thing to say.
...
Who do I have to blank to wish Bruce a good blank?

A: The quote comes from an Interview Mary Rodgers did for PBS's Great Performances:

Quote
Noel Coward once said that Daddy just "pissed melody." That doesn't mean that a lot of thought didn't go into his songs, however.

B. It should be "Whom to I have to blank..."

Actually, urinals and bidets make much nicer planters!

PS: Did you ever try to throw out an old toilet?

Good Morning!

Well, I sort of slept in again today, so I mush ruch off very, very soon and head into rehearsal...

Welcome back to the Pogues!

Welcome here, DR Hisaka!

Welcome back to the West Coast, BK - once you get there/here!  -And I love the whole wireless thing in airports too!  One of the last times I flew, I noticed people sitting on the floor outside one of the airline lounges (you know, for the very frequent travelers).  Hmm.. What are they doing?  It turned out there were taking advantage of the wireless modem setup in the lounge by sitting outside it's doors!  ;)

OK... Gotta run...

Now that I see your horses frolicking in the meadow, may I offer you a lock for the barn door?

After composing, but prior to preview or post, select the entire text with the mouse and press the Ctrl and C keys simultaneously (this puts the contents on your clipboard). If the test subsequently disappears into the cyber netherworld, simply start a new "Reply" (not Reply with quote) and press the Ctrl and v keys simultaneously - this will paste the text back into the form.

After you suffer sufficient pain, you may develop the habit of preparing lengthy posts in a word document from which you can cut and paste into the appropriate HHW form.

I shall reserve for you a copy of my forthcoming book" "Anal Retentiveness for Dummies".

der Brucer

Added note: if you copy and paste your proposed post into a processor like MS Word, you get the added bonus of spell checking prior to posting (which I did and found 3 errors in the above which have been fixed).

DR NOEL - I did find one more source for the quote, and it is a bit more elegant.

Noel Coward once said of Richard Rodgers:  "When he pisses, melody comes out."

Happy Birthday to you !  I am sorry that I wasn't able to meet you, I have heard intriguing  things about you from WFO and would have been pleased and honored to meet the man behind the legend . Perhaps if your next visit  includes a weekend I can persuade WFO to bring me in an give me an intro (we boring 8 - 6 office workers with hour + long commutes have so little flexibility in our schedules. especially with a youngun at home)  I hope your flight back was pleasant and uneventful!!

I must now hie myself to conference room # 1 for our Personnel meeting. I hate these meetings because I tend to want to doze off...just can't keep my eyes open sometimes...and they all know it, so all eyes will be on me to see if I am struggling to keep my self awake! LOL!
