Back - from the first hour-and-a-half of snowblowing.

Can't.  Even.  Describe.

Don't you hate it when people make their pompous statements like that?

Oh.  My.  God.     So do I.

I know I should do some crock pot cooking now and then, God knows I love it, but I've always put a corned beef or two into a large pot on the stove, throw in a bunch of "pickling spices" and bay leaves, cook it for whatever number of hours per pound the package recommends, and it has never been less than totally delicious.  It's practically foolproof.

I'm always there checking on it and occasionally turning the pieces which may or may not be doing any good but I'm somehow compelled to do it.  I also usually get to a point where I'm adding a little more water.

What else?  When it's done, before slicing it (which I'm sometimes good at and sometimes not) I cut and scrape off the major hunks of fat that will come off easily.  Because I'm a lean corned beef (and pastrami) kind of guy, don'tcha know.

Iin recent years I've been making two, sometimes three corned beefs (beeves?) because I insist there be leftovers.  This year we'll have a house guest, and I'm making four.

Place: An Office at Paramount Pictures
Characters: Some hipster executives
Time: Now

Main Hipster:  Okay, now guys, we are going to re-release this old movie directed by someone named Hitchcoke or something like that.  I watched some of it, couldn't get through all of it, moves too slow, no car chases or anything.....but I am thinking if we change the title, we can get a $40 million opening weekend....   Let's call it:  Nude -- You Die!!!!

General agreement and nodding of heads......

Totally feels like a Sunday.  Everyone's here, taking off work, and of course yesterday was the same.  Yep, a Sunday.

There is cloud cover here this morning.  The last few days have been gorgeous.

I actually went for a short walk along the western end of Lake Merritt.  I need to do this every day because the short walk nearly wiped me out.  I did sit and rest...twice.  Sad to say it, but there it is.  The rest of the afternoon and last night, I felt invigorated.  So...I know it's up to me!

Listening to the Boys from Syracuse. Great way to start the day. Richard Rodgers. Lorenz Hart. Rebecca Luker. Lovely.

Cookie butter tastes exactly like the cookies, it is basically ground up cookies.  You can get it at Trader Joe's

And the sugar content is astronomical.

DR Laura, you mentioned Gila Bend and my mind raced back to Katharine Hepburn in The Philadelphia Story:

Tracy: South Bend? It sounds like dancing.

Just got word that my friend, Mickey, whom we're going to visit in Denver next month suffered a fall and broke her hip. She's in surgery right now.

Back from snow blowing session #2.  Frosty scarf, cap, gloves, etc. are in the dryer.  We are not exactly down to asphalt for most of the length of the driveway, but the next, and I hope final, step for today will be salting and sanding the critical uphill parts.

The church is near, but the road is icy.
The tavern is far, but I will be very careful.

Wednesday afternoon greetings!  I had a routine checkup with our family doctor this morning and did a couple of errands.  Home now having lunch before a meeting at a nearby coffee shop with the wonderful woman who has agreed to be our AAUW president next year.

It is very cold in SW Ohio, but we're not having to cope with the snow.  Be safe, everyone!
