Well, you've read the notes, the notes were scary but turned out all right, and now it is time for you to post until the scary cows come home.

We saw the tour of Finding Neverland tonight. We traded in tomorrow's great orchestra seat tickets because we are going to spend tomorrow with DR Kerry.

We were in the balcony, which also never happens.

Today, I'm going to my sister's to help her clean up her garage.  I'm sure that I'll be there a LOT longer than I really want to be. ::)

But I will have to leave by 5:45 pm at the latest because I'm ushering at 6 pm for the Pacific Northwest Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival!  I sign up to usher for it every year.  They always have great groups.  It's rare that they get a dud, but it happens.  Anyway, it'll be a really fun evening.

BK,

I totally agree with you on INTERIORS.  Woody should stick to comedy.

TCB asked:
Quote
Where do you find such a beautiful corned beef.  Mine are always half fat.

First, I was going for the larger cuts the store had (2-1/2 to 3-1/2 pounds), which may or may not make a difference.

After it's cooked and the beef has "rested" for 20-30 minutes, I trim that big layer of fat from the one surface and gently scrape off whatever else is easily gotten.  Sometimes there's an additional flap that more fat can be removed from.  By then, even though corned beef is inherently fatty, you have a pretty lean piece of it.  I carve it as best I can against the grain.  This batch carved nicer than previous ones, perhaps because of the larger cuts.

Joshie and I got a beautiful email from Jack Viertel, thanking us for the orchestrations, and calling us "Irv and Sid,"  It was really kind. He wrote:
You sent me straight to heaven today, where I expect to stay for the next ten days or so, breaking in to choruses of The Heaven Hop from time to time as the mood strikes.

Your devotion to the cause is admirable enough, but your inspiration and skill go way beyond that. The work is thrilling and I’m very humbled and happy to be the recipient of the thrill.

My friend Tim McDevitt, whom I met through Rob wen we were doing the early musicals series at Trinity Church in 2014, sent this photo from the sitzprobe.  Tim's one of the Collegians on the Roberta recording.

DR John G, "I Happen To Like New York" may be my favorite orchestration that I did, but I'm very happy with much of the score.  Josh's "Love For Sale" is really nice, and I think the things we wrote together are very seamless.

Last night we watched the original THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY, which we liked.  Amazing what they could get that cat to do.

We also watched APRIL SHOWERS with Jack Carson and Ann Sothern.  There was a good movie rolling around somewhere in there, but they couldn't find it.
