I also need to wrap Rob's gift.  I will head down to City Center around 6:30.

DR Elmore's rehearsal day yesterday sounds like the most wonderful day ever.

May today's Exit Music fix be a smooth one, and the rest of the day be equally good!

SO looking forward to Saturday!

I'm always happy whenever BK reports on the pancakes being good at Du-Par's.  I never had them at the Studio City location but they are indeed special pancakes.

I'm also surprised to hear about a McDonald's closing, especially one sitting right there.  My first thought was that they were going to tear it down to replace it with one of those new retro designs.  We have one here and though I hardly go there, it's very nice.  So I couldn't help but google it myself, and sure enough, it was simply a closing down effective January 10th, period, end of story.  This is almost unheard of.  How can they not want a store on that stretch of road?

I had a similar experience where there was a Wendy's that had been there for at least 20 years (as long as I've been in the area so it maybe there even longer)

It will be replaced by a Pollo Tropical

Something else is bugging me about that Du-Par's and McDonald's location.

Ask BK:  Did that McDonald's originally replace something older and more interesting like maybe another Bob's Big Boy or [you name it]?  I'd be thinking back as far as the '70s, and I could be totally wrong, but I'd almost swear I remember there was something more of interest in that spot than just the Du-Par's.

Interesting about that being a Wendy's.  In my experience it seems like the major fast food places almost NEVER shut a location down, but a Wendy's did close down here in Danbury some years ago.  And it's the oddest thing -- it was across the street from Western Connecticut State University, and was the only fast food place in the area, which is itself unusual.  So how could any of those places possibly fail right there?  And yet it did, and so has every little independent jernt that took that site subsequently and tried to make something of it.  It's just bizarre.

Another Wendy's memory:  The first one I was ever taken to in the mid-1970s, near Mariemont Ohio (almost across from the original Frisch's Mainliner, in case DR Ginny knows that location) just shut down a couple of years ago, and there's some wholly unrelated little business in its place.  Almost forty years in one spot, then *poof*.  Amazing.

Neck surgery tomorrow.

I'll be off the board for a few days.

Positive thoughts, please.

So, the traveling HHWers are going to arrive on a cold and blustery day, when yesterday it was about 60 and spring-like.

But hey, at least it's a dry cold.  :D

By Saturday it's supposed to be 60-ish again, but -- sorry to say -- rainy, I think?

Wednesday morning greetings from LGA!  We are on the ground but apparently the wind is causing flight delays and there's congestion at the gates.  We could be here a while...

Link to a warm parody-tribute to Bette Midler in Hello Dolly
(a parody by Fred Landau & Jan Horvath, with a vocal by Bruce Horvath)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv4JujI26zM

in the spirit of the fan who fainted at "Hello Dolly" the other night, but told the paramedics "I'd sooner die than miss Act 2!" (per the Page Six article in the Post)

DR TCB, Thank you!  This is the first major boost in Manhattan for my career after three years a lousy health and unemployment.  Because of my mobility, I've turned down two projects for BK in LA that I would have loved to do, but this is the biggest thing to happen to me in a long time, and I am enjoying both the ride and whatever possibilities it generates.  I am so grateful to Rob Berman and Jack Viertel for trusting me.

I had one of those Oy!-inducing musical disaster dreams, based on the fact that I have a lunch meeting today regarding a possible gig in June and the upcoming NYC auditions.  The auditions would be primarily for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF which is being performed at the Abbey theater later this summer.
