We ended up on 10, with a huge crowd tryih to enter when the door rang.

TOD - I could write forever on this topic.  But to keep it personal, here are a few thoughts.

I actually love Legally Blonde from a musicians stand point.  The books are fun to play, but yes, a lot of it sounds the same.

Shows I shake my head and wonder "WHY" - Shrek, most juke box shows that aren't Mamma Mis, Jersey Boys or Beautiful

And the three that I think are interchangeable because they all sound the same Book of Mormon, Spamalot, and Something Rotten.   These three are all male voice heavy and all have the same vocal sound.  I'm tired of that sound.  I do love Spamalot, but you can keep the other 2.

Thank goodness for things like Fun Home and the new Come From Away to break the overly commercial mode of Broadway today. 

Then there's Hamilton - in a category in itself, much of which IMHO is personal hype that seems to make it better than it is.

We got the barn ready for whatever is coming up - oh yes....auditions.....so we shall see what we shall see.....we had NINE people there out of 15.....that's the way it goes.

I don't listen to a lot of recent shows, with the exception of Bright Star and the individual songs I'll find in Flaherty and Ahrens' shows. Menken can also do some good, some lousy stuff.

I think Book of Mormon is perhaps the worst I've heard of the recent ilk.

I saw Legally Blonde as a guest of a business associate... I was ready to chew off my leg to escape after the opening song.  But I started to go with the flow after the restaurant scene,as Elle gained my sympathy and by the court room scene I was thoroughly enjoying myself   It may have helped that it was the original Broadway cast about a week before the official opening

I loved Spamalot and did listen to that OBC cd quite often, though not in recent years
