I am holding on to many wonderful warm and joyous memories today, as I celebrate the remarkable life of my dearest friend in Phoenix, Kerry Hughes.
After an illness with kidney disease over this past year, Kerry made his transition peacefully last night. His beloved friend Dennis was sitting with him, and Dennis told me that Kerry was asleep but just moved his head a little, all of a sudden smiled a big loving smile, and then just slipped away.
It was exactly what Kerry had specifically wanted, and he was comfortable and in no pain at all. Kerry wanted no memorial service or gathering of any kind, and in his own words said, "if my friends want to think of me in some way, then go out to dinner: take your dog for a walk: buy some flowers for yourself, or look at a sunset. That is enough."
Kerry was a wonderful artist, a co-founder of Hopeful Heart, a paralegal, and a sweet soul who was loved by many people. Enjoy many sunsets Kerry !
