I wonder if BK is opening up a large package from Amazon today.

Because ..... Oh My God. I just did, and wow.

I didn't say anything the other night when BK posted about the Taschen Disney book being listed at such an insanely low price. I went back and forth on it, fully aware of the possibility that I could soon be suffering buyer's remorse if I went for it. But I'd never bought a Taschen book, though there have probably been several I would have loved. So go for it I did, and suffer I do not.

Let me tell you, the protective packaging design by itself is worth a good hunk of that sixty bucks. (I shall somehow resist the urge to post an unboxing video.) I'm sure Taschen provides all of their books in this manner, but it's a joy to behold. And Amazon went the extra mile in double-boxing Taschen's double-boxing...

But the book (oh yeah, there's a book involved here, right?) is its own marvel, and it will probably take years to fully digest it. I just checked and it's at $70 now, still a great bargain for anyone remotely enamored of Disney animation up through 1968 in the most exquisite presentation imaginable.

It's become clear to both Richard Sherman and me that I'm going to have to do the heavy lifting with the script. There is simply no way around it. While the writer seemed very willing to do whatever I needed, he is so slow to respond or even acknowledge e-mails, and then he's going to do everything in Final Draft, which is going to be a disaster. So, Richard asked if I would just put in all my changes and then we'll show it to him for approval. It doesn't really involve much actual writing, although I'm going to have to do some. But since I'm now going to do it, it's obvious I'm going to have to type the entire damn thing into Word - I'm thirteen pages in and already the formatting is so much nicer and easy to use. But what a pain doing all the typing. I may, in fact, ask the guy who typed it originally, since he has all those files, to continue doing this for me, using my template, and then I can just work on it from there.

Yesterday I learned of a new series on Netflix, called THE SNIFFER. Yes, a man with an extraooorrrdinary sense of smell helps the police. I thought it might be rather fun, so I watched the first episode. It appears to be a Russian production. One of the reasons I like watching foreign shows is the sense of real life in that country, which you often don't get from foreign travel. I'll watch more.

Had a sluggish night of sleep last night. It was very warm here yesterday and my condo heated up considerably. I ran the AC in the living room and actually fell asleep in my chair until about 12:45 a.m.

At that point, I went to bed, but tossed and turned and found that my brain didn't want me to sleep any more. I finally drifted off around 3:30 a.m. But was up by 6 a.m.

It has been a lo-o-o-o-n-g day.
