We had the most incredible sunset tonight. The colors were just beautiful. Clouds filled with peach and pink and the softest yellows against a soft blue.

My old high school classmate, Joan Osborne, is coming to San Antonio in October with a tribute to Bob Dylan. I don't know that I'll go. I like her voice, though.

The client didn't know her own name

 :o

Was there a reason she didn't know or just an error on her part?

Her Charles texted me this morning to let me know they were not near the Orlando shooting and that the shooter was not at large

That was thoughtful of him.

Tattoos and a mask. How about some platform shoes?

She didn't know she had hyphenated her maiden and married names on all her government issued photo IDs ...She applied for the loan with her husbands last name and then wanted her deed in her maiden name. "Cause I never changed it". Had her credit cards in variations ...  PICK ONE!!!!!'

In honor of Ode to Billy Joe arriving in the mail today, I'm watching Our Town with Robby Benson and Glynnis O'Connor as well as Sada Thompson, Barbara Bel Geddes, Hal Holbrook, Ronny Cox, John Houseman, Ned Beatty, Charlotte Rae and more. I remember when this was first broadcast on TV back in the late 1970s. It was the year we read the play in high school.

Also in this package from the library is the Spalding Gray version that also had Frances Conroy, Penelope Ann Miller and Eric Stolz. I missed that one when it was broadcast in 1989.

"Ode to Billy Joe" has arrive in Tumwater!  I'll listen to it at work tomorrow.

Listening to some Mahler by conductor Kirill Kondrashin - he recorded seven of the nine symphonies for Melodiya.  These performances are so interesting and I love them so far.  They are a far cry from Bernstein and the NY Phil which sound positively genteel.  These are rough and ready and Shostakovichian almost, which makes sense since Kondrashin did a brilliant set of Shostakovich symphonies and the orchestras here are Russian.  But these are so riveting and exciting and FAST - the 6th symphony, which I haven't gotten to yet - the final movement is a whopping nine minutes faster than the 60s Bernstein - well, that I've got to hear.  The sound thus far is up close and personal and crystal clear.  I guarantee you you've never heard Mahler like this - it's kind of a breath of fresh air.
