Shameless plug:

YouthPLAYS, the company that will be making the LAST STARFIGHTER musical available for productions at community theaters, high schools and colleges, summer camps, regional and dinner theaters, etc. is starting to accept inquiries for putting on the show.   Our page is now up at

http://youthplays.com/play_details.php?play_id=466

It'll soon be available in two versions:
the full two-act version (for middle school and up) which runs 85-95 minutes,
or the Family version suitable for all kids 5 to 95 and will run about 60-65 minutes.

If you know a theatre that might be interested in a 15+ person musical, please let them know.

That's great, Fred!  Good luck!! :D

From me, too.

Glad to hear that DH Keith is feeling better. I would say that even a moderated workout is great progress!

LOL  He kind of did that yesterday.  By tomorrow he will be back to his usual workout.

DR Jeanne I hope whatever that was will not return.  Sometimes, when one is prone to various health issues, it is difficult to know if what we are feeling is just the "usual" or if we are actually sick.  At least that is how I often feel, like when I can't tell if it is allergies or a cold, the usual or the awful whatever Keith had. ;D

I started watching a ballet of Beatrix Potter tales in the hopes that the music by John Lanchbery had the charms to soothe the savage breast. I'm still feeling stressed, but now I'm also tired.

Starting a noirish looking London film called All Night Long (not the Barbra Streisand film of the same name). It's got a fun cast including Charles Mingus and Dave Brubeck as well as Patrick McGoohan, Keith Michell and Marti Stevens. Apparently it's Othello in a nightclub.

That sounds interesting, John.  I just made a DVD of TCM's broadcast of Orson Welles' "Othello" for my dad and he LOVES Dave Brubeck.  I wonder if he would like this for his birthday in August.  I think I need to get it for him...assuming it's available on a US released DVD.

It is!  It's part of THIS 4-movie set from Criterion, but not available individually.

Home from a long and not so hot tech - and I've made the decision that I cannot possibly to double duty this week - that's going to just be too much.  So, I went and saw my Dial M cast and they'll be solidifying their blocking, getting off book and then we'll start with run-throughs next week.

The folks who tech for the big LA theaters, including our team, have, I suppose, the classic way of doing tech - which I don't like, but I'm not gonna change these folks, even though if they actually did it my way they'd love it and change instantly.  But cues are being written as we go, which means we move VERY slowly - we're not quite halfway through and it's pretty clear we won't get a run-through tomorrow, so Thursday everyone's gonna have to be back on their A game VERY quickly.
