My flight was a breeze yesterday.  I thank the HHW vibes that it was on time and that the rain screwed nothing up.

When we stopped at the car rental yesterday, they had no cars!  So, I'm waiting for news that they're holding one for me.

It's changed my plans for today, but I brought Guys & Dolls with me, and I'll work here at Randy's.

Wednesday morning greetings!  Just finished reading A Man Called Ove.  One of my book groups is discussing it in an hour and the other is discussing it next month.

I mentioned to my oncologist yesterday that I had been "marked" for radiation therapy and asked how that would work with the chemo regimen he was outlining....or would they be done at the same time....

He was quiet for a moment, and then he said he knew NOTHING about any planned radiation treatment for me....he got on the computer to look at all of my test results, etc., and then left saying he wanted to talk to the radiation doctor.

He came back several minutes later and said there would be a meeting on Thursday between him, the surgeon, and the radiation doctor to settle on the correct treatment.

I am a medical battleground....most interesting.  He was very angry....he will call me tomorrow after the meeting.

This is rather shocking  and must be disturbing for you.  Did you talk to your personal doctor?

This is unsettling news.  I hope it's nothing to be concerned over.

I thought it dragged a bit in the middle, but I came very close to crying at the end.  Next month, my evening group is having a potluck dinner and watching the movie together.  Looking forward to that.

Listening to the 1957 recording of Persephone - a beautiful work by Stravinsky, released in mono - only guess what - sixty years later they found stereo tapes - seems as though it was slated for release at that time, cancelled, slated again two years later, and cancelled again and forgotten about.  And the sound - they don't do it better today, that's all I can tell you.  Stunning.

So, will it never be released?

It has been - it's in this big box set.

I went out with Randy on some errands, and we stopped by Enterprise to see if a rental car was ready for me.  It was, and I now have a cute little red Hyundai for the week.

Ask BK:

Your comment from last night intrigues me:
Quote
The folks who tech for the big LA theaters, including our team, have, I suppose, the classic way of doing tech - which I don't like, but I'm not gonna change these folks, even though if they actually did it my way they'd love it and change instantly.  But cues are being written as we go, which means we move VERY slowly - we're not quite halfway through and it's pretty clear we won't get a run-through tomorrow, so Thursday everyone's gonna have to be back on their A game VERY quickly.

As someone who's usually got his head buried in a keyboard book during tech rehearsals (and sometimes just as grateful for the extra moments for working my own stuff out), I'd be very interested to know what the difference is between your method and the standard.  I know I've been through a few that proceeded surprisingly quickly, but snail's pace has been more the norm.

I was wondering about that also.

My favorite commercial jingle:

"See the U.S.A.
   In a Red Hyundai..."

Me, I'd like some photographic evidence of DR Elmore toodling by on a country lane wearing driving cap and gloves, goggles, silk scarf trailing in the breeze, and waving to that nice family of four having a picnic on a blanket spread out on the grass...
