GRANTCHESTER is back and I'm pleased about that.

I saw it last night.  Really good, set during the Christmas season.

Here's a blast from my past: my last acting gig, Lockit in "The Beggar's Opera," 1979.

Just heard some bad news , the mother of Vixdad's best friend (and best man at our wedding) passed away last night.  She was in her 90's so a good long life, but she was a ray of sunshine and lit up a room and will be much missed

My friend and her daughter were in NY last week and stood across the street where THE TONYS were being held.  They saw many celebrities, including Kevin Space, Sally Field, Danny devito and others.  Some of them waved back to them!  They had a star struck moment!!!

That's pretty cool! :D

I saw Cleo Laine in Drood and in Into the Woods. A most unique voice and a marvelously droll wit.

Larry, you asked last night about MY MOTHER AND OTHER STRANGERS. It just premiered last night here. I hope to watch it tonight or tomorrow night. I read about last week and it seemed right up my alley.

It's so good.  Corey Cott as the young American soldier is heartbreaking.

He's the star of Bandstand, right? I hear he's very good.

DR Jane

I was so excited when I saw your envelope today.  Such a lovely surprise. Thank you so much!

Oh, my goodness!  Jane, that reminds me that I totally forgot to let you know that I received the keychain that you sent me!  Thanks so much for that!  Here's a picture:

LOL DR George.  Fortunately I am just as forgetful.  That dawned on me a few minutes ago and I wondered if you had received it.  Thanks for the photo.  It was the fastest key chain I have found.  All along I knew I wanted one from the Rock.  I saw several styles, liked this one and within two minutes it was yours.

DR Laura, I had no idea the heat could cause problems with airplanes taking off.  I am used to problems due to ice.

Those traveling to or from Phoenix during the hottest afternoon hours this week may want to consider rescheduling their flights.

American Airlines is offering free assistance.

Airline officials in a news release Saturday recommended that customers reschedule flights that will arrive or depart Sky Harbor International Airport between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Extreme heat during those hours may impact planes' ability to take off and land, particularly for smaller aircraft, according to American Airlines.

Monday is expected to reach 117 degrees during those afternoon hours, according to National Weather Service spokesman James Sawtelle.

Tuesday will be the hottest day of the week, with an expected high of 120, Sawtelle said. And Wednesday won't be much cooler at an expected high of 119 degrees.

I packed and puttered around the house until it was time to leave for my 1pm mani/pedi, after which I was going to do an errand and visit Mom.  I didn't get far before realizing that the office I needed to visit would probably be closed before I got there.  Also, there was a huge storm brewing, so I came on home, arriving just as the heavens opened.  The errand can wait until I get back from Chicago and Rob can visit Mom for me and take her some cookies.

I have often thought of being a actor, but never persued it.  I am not interested in the fame aspect, only the artistic.

Richard chose O'Charley's for his belated Father's Day dinner, so the 4 of us have just come from there.  I need to do a little Mom paperwork, print my ALA schedule, and finish packing (to the extent possible the night before).  Our estimated departure time tomorrow is 12noon.
