Today is the birthday of Errol Flynn.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNJ4DquL9v4

In red print "Errol Flynn Jailed In Row" was the newspaper headline on the day I was born.

He was celebrating your birth.

When my ex-wife's mother died a couple of years ago, my daughter snagged for me two autograph books she'd kept all these years - she loved me and really loved my books - she read every one of them up until she passed - something my ex has NEVER done.  So, going through them - I'd only glanced when they came to me - some fascinating stuff in them: Ruth Etting, Helen Morgan, Ethel Waters, Ethel Shutta, Edgar Bergen, Leo Carillo, Roland Young, and many others.

I used to have a great autograph book, but I traded it several years ago for lobby cards signed by Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Ginger Rogers and Lucille Ball, and Abbott & Costello, which now adorn the walls of my media room.

Nice stories both.

In Elvis Costello's autobiography, he talks about mutilating a paper signed by all four Beatles just to get it to fit in his autograph book.

BTW, it's a bummer about no videos from the shows, BK, because those of us not in LA could at least enjoy a taste of the shows. But I do understand the reason to drop them if people aren't attending.

The video thing is annoying - it's like "this is why we can't have nice things" - people who came regularly got used to knowing I'd be posting videos and literally stopped coming - not a lot but enough to annoy me.  I will post occasional things like the one in the notes.

Had a long chat with our very own Nick Redman - he's having some major health issues now - he had difficult surgery four months ago, but now there's new stuff to be concerned about.  Hoping to get down to the Monica of Santa to visit after Dial 'M' opens.

I had my hair cut SHORT today so if it falls out during chemo,  it won't matter.....I look like Lex Luthor.

I don't think I could cut mine that short though it is the smart thing to do.

MAJOR VIBES AS YOU GO THROUGH THIS.

...and here we are in beautiful Normal, Illinois!  We took my niece to dinner at Red Robin, she gave me a tour of the faboo papercrafting studio she has in her basement, and now we're all chilling in front of the TV.

Moana is over. The last 10 minutes or so were a little too long. Then you have 10 more minutes of credits with the "pop" versions of songs. They never sound good.

Picked a cucumber this morning. It may be the full crop, but it tasted very good. There are still a few flowers on the plant, but I don't know if there will be fruit.

I also picked the first habanero. There are about two dozen more on the one plant. I may pickle those, if they're alive when I get back from vacation.

I'm partial to Colors of the Wind from Pocohantas among the recent 40 years of movies, but nothing beats Mary Poppins in my book.

Starting to watch Satan Met a Lady with Bette Davis and Warren William. It's an early film version of The Maltese Falcon. I wonder how close to the original novel it will be.

Really sorry to hear this.  Major health vibes for Nick Redman.

Photobucket refuses to complete an upload for me tonight, so I'm doing this the other way.

For those who enjoy classical music, you may want to check out this site, the Berkshire Record Outlet:

They also have some DVDs, all at great prices.

I drove up there a few times back in the '90s when they had the warehouse style walk-in store just across the Mass. state line.  Great browsing and a gorgeous drive each way, especially in the fall.

DR John, a fresh cucumber sounds good.  We never grew them when we had a vegetable garden.   I am sorry now that we didn't.

Back from a run-through - show is running just what it should but our actors are still fumbling lines all over the place - since our first audience is exactly a week from tomorrow I'd say they better get with the program - but they're all doing fine.
