Well, you've read the notes, the notes were sick of being on the verge of being notes, and now it is time for you to post until the verging cows come home.

TOD

I've only seen five of his films and the only one I have seen more than once an still enjoy is 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Dr. Strangelove has some great set pieces but find it difficult to watch the entire film. The Shining was a major disappointment because he veered so much from the original source novel.

So glad to read about what a good time George is having working on his show.  More fun details, please,  as it moves along, if you're not too tired!

Larry - I agree that Curtis' music is really really excellent!

But what are the reservations you have with the "Dear Evan Hansen" music?

Cheap, soulless, lazy pop that sounds rehashed from not very good to begin with. Other than that, it's okay.

I haven't heard DEAR EVAN HANSON yet....except the song that was on the Tony Awards - I am sure it is very popular especially among the META set,  and I am happy that it is enjoying a good run.

I may eventually get around to listening to it......

The photos make the production look lavish and sumptuous, at least they certainly do on my computer!

Maybe it's a good thing I didn't listen to many of the songs before seeing the show, so I'll probably always associate the songs with the emotional impact of seeing the show.

Is it possible the "Dear Evan Hansen" bookwriter deserves even more credit for the show's complexity than he's getting?

LOL! Well, that's pretty much my opinion.  When the "big song" on national television sounds like a note in search of a mate, there's there's trouble with the score.

Whatever happened to the ability to write strong tunes?  Once pop music pretty much deteriorated to accommodate the limited vocal stylings of too many current pop singers, things went to hell.

DR Ginny, $75 is all?  They should have given you a couple of free nights. The Palmer House should have standards to uphold.

Speaking of I Do! I Do! (surely someone was, somewhere in the world), our director received the script that they send out right away, and it appears to be the original book insofar as it doesn't reflect the obvious changes made for the 1996 revival.  It has a few updated lyrics for "Flaming Agnes" and something else, but not the hospital waiting room ditty or the change in position of "My Cup Runneth Over".

I can't fathom why their policy wouldn't include sending a score along with that.  We're supposed to have a read-through and initial music rehearsals at least ten days before we're scheduled to receive all the materials, so we'll just have to have to use the published vocal score for jumping into it.
