I have the day off--sorta. My acupuncturist is in China and I picked up my car yesterday (I thought it'd be this morning). I did laundry this morning and some puttering around the apartment. I have things to do this afternoon for an hour or two. So an easy day.

T.O.D.

There are so very few new films out there that are of interest.

I REALLY know what you mean!

DR Jeanne, I like the Dr Blake mysteries, although I do not watch it regularly, as I do with other series.  I also like "Death in Paradise" but it's the complete polar opposite of Dr Bake and nearly all fluff.

I like DEATH IN PARADISE very much. It's lighthearted and fun, and I like the character Dwayne very much. I was sorry when the lead left and didn't care for his replacement at first, but I think it gelled quickly and works again. Yes, it's a lot of fluff, but it works for me.

We stopped watching "Death in Paradise" as we did not care for the new guy.  My brother said we should watch again as that guy left the series.

Which season? I watched season 5 recently and it was still Guy #2.

Back from the car dealership, where they're reexamining my engine because of some extra noises it shouldn't be making just a few weeks after they had it apart to install the new timing belt.

Is this car repair week? Hope yours goes smoothly.

TOD;

Maybe OKJA. Has anyone seen this?

Every time I'd look at the name I'd think "okra."  Now I hear something like "lockjaw." Oy. But I do want to see it.

The rumor (or rumour ;) ) is that the guy who left "Death in Paradise" is going to be the new Doctor in "Doctor Who" when Peter Capaldi leaves.

I expect his Doctor Who will be very different from his current role.

Guy number two.  We watched a few after he joined the cast, we Liked him less each time and gave up.  Prior to that we enjoyed the show very much.

Back from the ubiquitous chicken soup and bagel and picking up no packages.  Naturally there was a bit of last-minute childish e-mail crap from my set designer today, but perhaps he'll actually finish the set by the time tonight's performance begins.

DR Jeanne did you see my question regarding Dr Blake?

Yes, I answered last night. Here's the post:

Jane, I wouldn't call the DR BLAKE series great, but I find Dr Blake likeable enough. For me, the series provides an interesting glimpse into 1950s life in urban Australia. The stories could be stronger, though. I'd suggest you watch the next episode, then decide.

DR BLAKE is one of those shows that makes me wonder what it is that makes me feel a show is great, rather than just good. The series is quite good in many ways, IMO, but somehow the writing doesn't draw me in as some shows do.

I'm told we're sold out tonight, so that's nice.  This day has been a little challenging, but I have to wash it all away.  Almost finished with the thank you notes and listening to Vaughan Williams a la Russia.

Good for the most part. Did some yard work and a Costco run today. Not a lot happening.
