More tsuris from the NYMF front:  A long email of score corrections this morning.

Why this "Finale vocal score" wasn't proofed ages ago before it was sent to me is musical theatre amateurism I find hard to cope with.

Waiting at the doctor. They want to do an ultrasound. I suspect it's a kidney stone.

Even more irritating, I have to deal with Guys & Dolls now when I'd rather make these goddamned score fixes.

My G&D colleague Jason and I just spoke.  we're moving everything back an hour to 1:00, and hopefully by then the rain will have eased up.  Selfishly, I still wish we were meeting anywhere but the Loesser office!

I'm thinking about beginning a music preparation class for musical theatre amateurs.

I don't care what it covers, I want to audit that class.

Seriously.

Not so much related to DR Elmore's situation with the rain today, but we have a charming little outdoor summer theater (nothing's under cover except the band) and they're getting decimated this year.  They just lost half of their Into the Woods performances, which were surprisingly good, and were so desperate to have a closing night last Saturday and give the audience something that they gave an impromptu concert version of it for the 70-some people in attendance, crammed inside the big old house adjoining the outdoor property.  Tonight's the opening for their West Side Story.  I met the director and music director who both seemed really promising, and this opening night looks to be rained out as well...without much difference in tomorrow's forecast.

Before we moved into the barn, DR CHAS SMITH, we had performances outside....we were lucky that in those two seasons on ONE performance....the second Thursday of THE SOUND OF MUSIC....was rained out......

I have two kidney stones, both rather large and both in the same place they were when I had an CT scan last fall. So, they're not the problem.

So there are no answers yet. I just have to hope the pain goes away. That and take some aspirin.

I hope to post interesting news about the National Theatre's production of Follies very soon.

That sounds rather ominous. ::)

What a shame.  A difficult adjustment for me when we moved to the East coast was  ALL the rain in the summer when you want to play.

I am glad I hadn't noticed it was only 61 degrees this morning when I headed out to the pool for a swim.  While getting in and out was a bit chilly the pool was comfortable.  I found my old non prescription goggles and wore them with my contacts.  I am relieved they still work and water didn't get in my eyes.  They are also more comfortable.

Uneventful cardiologist appointment today.  Paramedic Rob says my blood pressure and heart rate are probably better than his.  I'm waiting to hear from the hospital about scheduling a (routine) stress test.
