Sheesh, another dark rainy Friday.

And yet, an oddly comforting one.  Sometimes I like days like this.

Rain? I'd love some. We haven't had any in ages. (February?)

I'm thinking about beginning a music preparation class for musical theatre amateurs.

Actually, I think that's a great idea. I'm sure there's much you could teach that is needed by many. Have you ever given any thought to that? I mean serious thought.

My acupuncturist is now back from China. I saw her today for a much-needed treatment. I then stopped for lunch, followed by some work here. I'm now off for the day.

I don't think I mentioned that I watched OKJA (OAK-shja) the other night, a sort of contemporary boy-and-his-dog, but this was girl-and-her-giant-pig. The pig, the girl (she's about twelve), and her grandfather were all wonderful. I have some reservations about the film, though, especially language. Why is what could have been--and should have been--a YA film tainted with so much bad language? It's mostly one word. I just don't understand this.

I've been watching a British series called WHAT REMAINS. It's quite good. On Britbox.

So, just as I was taking our pork roast out of the oven, the city emergency sirens went off and the TV was reporting tornado warnings for our county.  Richard and the cat and I spent about 20 minutes in the basement.  The only casualty is the sound on our TVs, which Richard thinks is a cable problem.

Just home from a wacky day and was catching up when the electricity dehumanizes (I actually typed "shut") down. It just came back on.  How does "shut" become dehumanizes?  Someone explain.

What a day.  As you know, I set the alarm for ten - it's been working fine all week.  I had a twelve-thirty lunch.  The phone rang at what I assumed was a usual nine o'clock robo call so I didn't pick up.  But I kept wondering how it could be so hot in the house already - so I opened the iPad to see the time - 12:55.  I couldn't believe it.  I called the guy and told him I'd be there within thirty minutes - he told me the traffic was terrible but they'd go ahead and order.  I was literally out of the house in four minutes.  Thankfully I know the city so well I did indeed make it in twenty-three minutes.  I began on Laurel Canyon - half of that journey was quick as can be, the other half slightly slower.  When I got to Melrose I could see they were doing some kind of work ahead and that the traffic was backed up from Beverly Blvd. so I quickly turned right, took Melrose to San Vicente and turned right, then took my secret street south - signals at every major intersection, and was at Pico in no time flat.  Turned right and got to the restaurant quickly and valet parked.  While they all signed CDs, I ate.  Met Dominique Swain, who's just a lovely person.

Coming over Coldwater home was horrible at three-thirty until I got past Mulholland.  Then it was easy.  I went to the mail place and picked up a couple of packages, then came right home.  The house was eighty-two degrees so I turned on the air and began to catch up on stuff on the computer - two minutes into that the electricity went off - completely.  It came back on five minutes later.  And that's been the wacky day.  So, not sure tonight's the night to go see the play, frankly.

The very good news about the National Theatre production of Follies is that my adopted son and best friend Joshie will be assisting Jonathan Tunick on the orchestrations.  I am very proud of him.
