I'm up, I'm up - almost seven hours of sleep and weird dream that involved finding love and my late age, cancer (not mine) and all kinds of other things.  Interesting.

Showered and drove over to the theater - Burbank Blvd. shut down, cop cars everywhere.  I u-turned and went one block south and up the alley to our theater.  That was cordoned off, too, but I was able to park.  Someone from the theater came over to me and said they'd just cancelled the matinee - no one quite knew what was going on, but I could see cops everywhere with assault rifles - fifty cars and a block east was their barricade.  I can't find a damn thing on Google about it - where IS the news?  So, I came back home and will begin highlighting scripts shortly.  Making a batch of Wacky Noodles for food.  Too hot to be out and about.

I suppose they'll try to get all those people to next week's matinee and I suppose the talkback can be then.

Missed this from Jane yesterday: "Bruce, you are one of the 4 mutual friends.  Usually when I ask you don't have a clue but I shall give it a try again.  How do you know Hali Burton?"

I do know Hail, formerly known as Gail Slobodkin, which is how you probably knew her.

All I've seen is "armed man on Burbank Blvd. near Vineland."  All I know is this is the kind of thing the news would always have been all over with helicopters and all that crap.

Too hot for this kid. I was inside all day yesterday and plan the same for today. I took some recycling out earlier and it was like a desert out there. (desert, not dessert)

I'm told we had an "explosive" full moon last night. I know how crazy people can get when there's a full moon.  And how grumpy and irritable people get in hot weather. I have lots to do here, anyway.

Are there any laws in NY about elevators having to be functional? I continue to be appalled at DR Elmore's situation. Can't the landlord organize a fleet of small drones to whisk away garbage? Where's Jeff Bezos when we need him?

Is her new name anything to do with the corporation, Halliburton?

Thanks to DR ELMORE and DR FJL.  Today is a day off chemo meds and without radiation, so it's a good day.

DR ELMORE if Judi Dench can get to the Old Vic on a Seventh Avenue bus, she is more of a magician than she seems to be.....

 :)

Its nice to be Mary sometimes

My very old tribute to Marys everywhere

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSFtaG74LDc

This was from the proposed "The Testiness of Mary," a take-off of "The Testament of Mary

(obviously made with much respect while Mary Tyler Moore was still with us, of course!)

I remember this song, Fred, and always liked it. I knew it as A BRAND NEW MARY and thought of it as a reinvention of oneself, a rising to a new challenge. Are the lyrics somewhat different or the same?

DR Jeanne, since the landlord has already advised the tenants they are taking bids for a new elevator, I suspect we can scream all we want and nothing will be done.  The oldest tenants in the building, at this point, are me an John, who's about 5 years older than I, on the 3rd floor, and Alice on the first. It's complete bullshit/

Yes, but there's a very doable solution. As you said, an intern or such. The laundry is a little more difficult, but surely packages could be brought up and garbage taken down by almost anyone. What about your super super?

First I had to sit with the cast list and my script and notate what each person would be doing in terms of what roles.  That took an hour.  Then I began highlighting each person's script - a pain in the ASS, but there's no other real way to do this and keep the reading smooth.

Thanks for remembering, Jeanne!  Yes, that was its original context.  But when that show that it was written for never got on, I recycled the number.   :)

DR elmore I don't know what is available in NY, however, elsewhere there are places that do laundry in bulk.  Is there a service like this near you?
