DR GEORGE I always try to furnish costumes and props, especially if I am playing a smaller role or I'm in the ensemble....of course not if the show is "period".....but the 50's and 60's I can handle.

When we went to see GREASE, it was 50's night. You got in free if you were dressed in period clothes. I got in free - and I didn't even know it was 50's night!

As a follow-up, the thing that forever pissed me off about the move down the street was that, though the units were mostly identical, it was never quite as lovely as the first place. The building looked fine, while the landscaping and view from my side of the building were not as nice. But the worst thing of all (DR Jeanne can perhaps commiserate) was that the a/c unit in the second place was just awful. It barely performed in moderate temperatures, and in heat waves it didn't stand a chance at keeping up. Naturally, the one up the street had been perfect, the most efficient a/c unit I'd ever had. The management company would send a guy out to replace the filter, but that barely improved things. It was on its last legs and needed to go.

This was one of two apartment experiences (an earlier place didn't have it at all) that made me the a/c freak I am today.

My ostomy supplies were NOT delivered last week....and I was a bit nervous since I am running low on some needed items.

I emailed the company Saturday.

Yesterday, a man from down the street brought a BIG box to us. The supplies had been delivered to his house. I thanked him very much! He said he almost sent it back, but then decided it might be something we needed.

His house number is the same as ours....but I live on Fairlane and he lives on Devonwood......

DR CHAS SMITH last week I watched your friend Mother Dolores in FRANCIS OF ASSISI....I think she looked more beautiful in this movie than any other....although the film was kind of a dud....

Bradford Dillman....as Francis....I hope the real St. Francis wasn't such a pill......

Oh, I need to get that one. I haven't seen it at all. Most of her films need good home video releases. Where the Boys Are is being released on Blu-ray and Warner will do a beautiful job on that. But the only release of the famous Loving You with Presley was VHS and laserdisc, which are panned and scanned and look awful besides. Come Fly With Me looks awful; I had to adjust the brightness and contrast on my screen to get a watchable picture, and I NEVER do that. And so it goes.

I do recall another incident that happened back in the mid-1960s.

I was living in an apartment on Normandie Ave. -- the same building that former actress Barbara Payton resided.

One day, the police (guns drawn) raided the place -- not my unit or Barbara's. It seems that there was a drug dealer operating out of one of the other units.

I moved out soon afterward.

My building management has no sense of humor. The agent's reply to yesterday's email inquiry:
Is there an A J Clarke intern who can stop by 2-4 times a week, do my laundry, bring up packages, and carry garbage to the basement for me?

We do not provide services to do tenant's laundry and carry their garbage.

I just sent her this message:
I guess my sarcasm eludes you. If I have to hire someone to carry, tote, and launder, may I deduct it from my rent?
