We have a situation like that, DR Jrand66.  My house number has a "twin" on a parallel road, and we occasionally get each other's mail or packages.

We had a "twin" in Ashland, same numbers with almost the same street name.  We were country and they were town.

We used to get Mr. Trent's mail.  He lived one street north with the same house number.

One time a friend called to say she'd left the card table she'd borrowed from us in the breezeway.  I said, "We don't have a breezeway."  Mr. Trent did and that's where our card table was...

The reviews for Donna Murphy in Dolly! make me want to hear her sing the role. If anybody hears of a bootleg recording of her, let me know.

My building management has no sense of humor.  The agent's reply to yesterday's email inquiry:
Is there an A J Clarke intern who can stop by 2-4 times a week, do my laundry, bring up packages, and carry garbage to the basement for me?
was this just now:
We do not provide services to do tenant's  laundry and carry their garbage.

I just sent her this message:
I guess my sarcasm eludes you.  If I have to hire someone to carry, tote, and launder, may I deduct it from my rent?

It obviously eluded me.  Really, why not get someone to do these things for you-at least the carry and tote part.

Well, for one thing, I cannot afford it. Next question?

Very busy day so far, but productive, I suppose.  I went and had the old and young people's mac-and-cheese - it's really only about three ounces of pasta so not bad and I had a bagel with it.

Came home and had an hour work session working through the act two songs of Levi - so I'll at least be able to croak through them, I think, as long as the cough doesn't rear it's ugly little head.

Then I organized the den - put the fourteen chairs in, put the scripts on the chairs, cleaned the room, so that's all good to go.  Have waters for everyone.

So, now I can relax until people start arriving - I was going to do it in the living room but there is insufficient light in there, whereas the den is very bright.

Discovering a new composer right now, new to me anyway - someone named Bruckner, have begun with the first of his nine symphonies - there's a bit of Mahler going on, so I'm enjoying so far - I think Mahler and folks like Bruckner were trying to break free from their 19th century shackles.  I got a set on DG conducted by Eugen Jochum - everyone raves about this set and some rave about his later set on EMI - I have them both, so we shall see.  But all the proper reviews I read said this is the one to start with if you're a Bruckner neophyte, which I surely am.  The orchestral playing and sound on this set is amazing.  These are all 1960s recordings.

Did you know if you remove the "kn" and final "r" from Bruckner you get Bruce?  Just asking.

TOD: Someone pulled a gun on me when I was at the church a few years ago. The SWAT team responded. We were moved to a safe place, so we didn't see anything exciting.

When we went to see GREASE, it was 50's night.  You got in free if you were dressed in period clothes.  I got in free - and I didn't even know it was 50's night!

As a follow-up, the thing that forever pissed me off about the move down the street was that, though the units were mostly identical, it was never quite as lovely as the first place.  The building looked fine, while the landscaping and view from my side of the building were not as nice.  But the worst thing of all (DR Jeanne can perhaps commiserate) was that the a/c unit in the second place was just awful.  It barely performed in moderate temperatures, and in heat waves it didn't stand a chance at keeping up.  Naturally, the one up the street had been perfect, the most efficient a/c unit I'd ever had.  The management company would send a guy out to replace the filter, but that barely improved things.  It was on its last legs and needed to go.

Oh, yes. I can certainly commiserate!

My ostomy supplies were NOT delivered last week....and I was a bit nervous since I am running low on some needed items.

I emailed the company Saturday.

Yesterday, a man from down the street brought a BIG box to us.  The supplies had been delivered to his house.  I thanked him very much!  He said he almost sent it back, but then decided it might be something we needed.

His house number is the same as ours....but I live on Fairlane and he lives on Devonwood......

I'm glad you now have what you need.
