Had a really good rehearsal with Kay and John - she's really starting to understand what's necessary for a club act in terms of energy and presenting yourself and your personality - it really began to come to life - it's a really good act. And the opening number is KILLER great - I had an idea for it, she loved the idea, and Boswell took my arrangement idea and worked it out perfectly. And I made one suggestion for the penultimate number that Kay understood and latched onto immediately, so we're doing that.

These Bruckner symphonies are densely packed, I'll say that. There's some wonderful music here - Mahler he isn't but I also think these will take a few listenings to really let the music sink in. I'll finish this set, then listen to the other two complete sets and by that time I'll have a fair notion - but it's excellent listening.

My printer has arrived and sits downstairs - or at least it was there at 5:00. What's irritating is that my super has not brought it up. And this is the quandary: he shouldn't have to take care of my problems, but I'm irritated that it's still sitting on the first floor and I need it.

I have finished the densely packed Bruckner and will later move on to the Gunter Wand set, which is now fully uploaded. Very curious to hear the different performance. Meanwhile I'm listening to a really good performance of the Khachaturian piano concerto - I have a bunch of recordings and some of those performances are great but in sound that is very lacking. But this one, on Decca Eloquence (cheap as dirt) performed by Alicia de Larrocha and conductor Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos has the best sound of any of 'em, although the SACD hybrid of the Peter Katin sounds great - but only the SACD layer - the CD layer of that disc is sub-standard and has wow and flutter - why they wouldn't just use the SACD layer which has none of those issues is anyone's guess. But for a low-budget performance this Eloquence version cannot be beat and it has the Rachmaninov third piano concerto as a disc mate - same pianist but with Previn conducting. I'm a happy Khachaturian right now.

She had long planned to go to lunch with a friend of hers ( they have been friends since grammar school) so she didn't want to,go to dinner.

After work. I went over with her card and cake where I was son joined by my brother (his wife was away) and Vixdad. While we were there the Vixter called so that was nice

I told her about her gift...I am taking her to Virginia in August to see A Little Night Music at the Signature theate and to meet up with my neice ( her granddaughter) and her girlfriend.

She was very happy. I hope she is as excited after a 6 -7 hour drive each way. We're heading down on a Saturday, seeing the 8 pm show and then staying over at a hotel and driving back the next day
