We needed to slip in a couple of Fridays due to upcoming absences.  I just got my own absence behind us.  It's everyone else's turn now.

Well, that's one way to get rid of him.  :)

But I didn't see anything that didn't belong earlier when I was looking at it on my own iPad.  Vixmom, I believe you may need to consult a priest.

Rainy today which may keep us from the predicted 91 degrees and a heat index of over 100 degrees.

TOD

Helen Mirren in The Tempest
Ralph Feinnes in Two Women. (It's not the Sophia Loren movie. It's based on Turgenev. And I don't think Feinnes is one of the two women.)

Listening to the rest of Don Quixote. (disc31 of 34)

My DVD of the NY City Ballet performance of the Balanchine-Ravel "La Valse" is due to arrive, so I'll be watching that after my Britcoms tonight.

I called Joshie and got his voice mail.  i forgot he's in sitzprobe for The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin (I think that's the title), which sounds painful.

The sitzprobe? The title? The whole experience?

So sorry to read about your friend MR BK.

Me, too.  It's particularly painful to learn that a longtime friend has departed and you don't hear about it until much later.

Today is a half day for me.  And it's kind of a "slack" day, at that.

One of our leaders is retiring next Friday like I am.  Today is his "party".  He was deputy director of our largest department and a huge to-do will be held away from the city in our Office of Emergency  Services facility.  Should be a wonderful time.  Hundreds are expected to show up.

My retirement to-do is scheduled for next Thursday at my favorite local restaurant.

I didn't want a to-do and said as much many times.  I was told it didn't matter what I wanted but that "they" wanted the to-do for me.

Oh, well.  I never pass up a great meal, especially when someone else is paying.

T.O.D.

I'm going to watch THE BURGLAR with Dan Duryea and Jayne Mansfield.

It's part of a film noir box set I got the other day, and the only one of the 5 films that I've never seen.

By the way:

Twitter.

Does anyone here tweet much at all?

I dabbled with it years ago when former DRJoseSimbulan was into it and visited Oakland.  He tried to show me how, but it was just baffling to me at the time.

I suddenly, and inexplicably, began my encounter with tweeting a few months ago.

There are still things I do not "get", but that hasn't stopped me from tweeting when the urge strikes me.
