Our own Sandy Bainum is performing nearby tomorrow night and Saturday night.  I'm hoping to go to at least on of the shows.

Jonathan Groff sings Being Alive at the recent Sondheim on Sondheim concert. Can't say I like it.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ajw26049vEE

Where's the dialogue within the song?  Couldn't they get the rights to that??  And one of the comments below the video is, "Quite nice, but a juvenile performance compared to Esparza and Jonathon please dont close your eyes tight to show emotion."  Yup!

I thought Esparza was horrible.

I didn't love him either. :-\

My number one note to any singer I work with - do NOT close your eyes.  The eyes are everything and closing them to go into some private world is both selfish and shows a blatant disregard of the audience AND the song.

Back from a two-and-a-half mile jog.  I thought I was going to expire on the street.

re: losing weight. It makes sense to me that a 300 lb man exercising and dieting would have an easier time losing weight than someone half his size. He has so much more to lose.

Eating 1000 calories a day cannot be healthy. Do any health professionals actually advise doing that?  I would say eat more fruits and vegetables and exercise more.

Everything that I've read and learned is that an average person shouldn't eat less than 1000 calories a day, not specifically only 1000 calories a day.  To maintain a person's current weight, a man should eat about 12 calories per pound of weight per day for the weight that he wants to maintain.  A woman should eat 10 calories per pound of weight per day.  So, a person who weighs 300 pounds should, of course, eat fewer calories than what they've been eating that has maintained their weight, or they can add exercise to counteract that, or both.  When I was losing weight with a weight-loss program 16 years ago, I averaged about 1200 calories a day and at first I did easily lose 5 pounds per week for quite a while.

And now, I'm leaving.  I want to see Apple Tree Productions' production of The Addams Family: The Musical.  Some of the kids who were in Hairspray with me are in this. :)

Be back later!

When the song was performed on Broadway in Sondheim on Sondheim, the voices buzzing in Bobby's head were there.

Well, dopey me!  It turns out that the show started at 6 pm and not 7 pm, like I thought.  Maybe I can see it on Saturday...or not.  We'll see.  So, I'm now at McMenanins The Spar having dinner and reading my Kindle.

Until later...again. ;)

And now I'm unwinding to the Hamilton Mixtape. Why? I do not know.

It's not bad. It's just not to my taste.

Snoozed for a while after watching the bonus material on By Sidney Lumet, then watched two Hitchcock hours, and now I'm finished with my viewing and listening to Miaskovsky.  I can't tell you which symphony I'm up to because they're completely out of order - so, since I'll want to hear all of them again my next go-through will be in symphony order.  There are some very Herrmann-like moments in these symphonies.

Listening to the final Miaskovsky symphony, number 27, but after that I still have about eight or nine symphonies to go, including three more of the very early ones.  I'm going to enjoy listening in chronological order next time.
