I have indeed come up against the left-handed screw -- on fans (speaking of which, it's time to clean all of the ones in this house), and on power equipment such as a weed whacker.  But it's something I've had to relearn every time I work on any of these things.

My test results from yesterday just arrived online.  My too high blood sugar from the last tests dropped by 28 points.  My doctor will be very pleased.

That is excellent.  Congratulations, sir!

The Goldbely / Town Hall Deli video is fascinating, and the sandwich sounds absolutely delicious.

I know I'd love it.

However, it's really difficult to wrap my head around any such deli type sandwich being called a Sloppy Joe.

DR Jeanne, my mind is blown at the outrageous attitudes of your landlord or management company.  One hardly knows where to begin.  Their "management style" is disheartening and infuriating.  And this all came about because of the 32-years-in-residence tenants and two stove burners?  Is this for real?  Do these people live in the same universe as the rest of us?  How is it possible to hold one's good tenants in such contempt?

Do they own/manage a lot of other properties in town?  How extensive is their empire?

One friend of mine has lived in the same rent stabilized apartment in Greenwich Village for many years, and her landlord is just awful toward her and the few other remaining "stabies" in the building.

I'm sure all leases these days give them a right of entry under certain circumstances, and in fact they probably have for years.  I think I had them in my leases, but they were never EVER abused, and I never had landlords who were so blatantly antagonistic.  Please do consult with a good tenant's attorney as to this particular situation.

Weather is unfit to endure today.  I've run all errands and I am drenched with sweat.  The humidity is high - 88% -  and it's downright unpleasant to be outside.  I'm going to chill literally for a bit, then tidy up, and then cook for a bit.  I thought I'd make some pasta sauce, some chili, and freeze most of it.

Wednesday morning greetings!  After having to be up and outta here 2 days in a row, I'm enjoying a slow morning.  Richard and I are supposed to go to Hamilton this evening for an outdoor performance of The Merry Wives of Windsor by the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, but the weather forecast is not good.  We even bought new folding chairs to replace the ones in the garage that were older than Rob.

Judith Jones has died. She will not likely be known by many because she was a book editor, largely known for helping Julia Child. But her big contribution was rescuing The Diary of Anne Frank from someone's reject pile.

Okay, so, the New Jersey version of "Sloppy Joe" is a well known thing there, but one I hadn't heard of.  I will absolutely have to get one when I'm next in NJ and it's hunger time.

I also had never heard of "Taylor Ham" until several years ago when a friend who grew up in NJ told me about it.  I have since found it's on menus everywhere in NJ (notably in diners), though I have yet to try it.  But I shall do that, too.

George, the secret sauce is pretty much just mayo, pickle relish, a touch of mustard, white wine vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.

In her 80s, she wrote a great cookbook on cooking for one. Then she wrote one about cooking for her beloved dog.

Wow, it makes me wonder what great books were not rescued from a reject pile.

Whew!  Good thing that you didn't spend that much money on something that tasted like crap. ;D

Jane, for some reason, your quote of my quote was wonky.  When I quoted it for this post, I was able to fix it so that everyone will now know what the heck you meant! ;)
