Picked up one package that directly relates to what I really hope will be an upcoming Kritzerland project - the dream project. It's a very complicated release to ponder and here's why - someone licensed this thing way back in 1987 and put it on CD. They've since repackaged it and continue to sell it, even though their license would have run out decades ago (par for the course for this label). But the fact is the CD is mastered terribly - low level, muffled, very odd. I've sent some tracks to my mastering guy to see what can be done. The company that NOW owns the label where this first appeared on LP is ready, willing, and able to license to me very reasonably. And they do have the original tapes, but they're deep in storage and would cost dough to have them go dig them out. Depending on what my mastering guy feels, that may be something we want to do, actually. In the end, given that this has been available for thirty years, how many are we going to sell? I'd do 500 but it's a two-CD set - but if we could trumpet 100% better sound, do a nicer packaging (both previous CDs have hideously ugly amateurish packaging), well, the bottom line is it's personal for me, important to me, and I guess if the deal is VERY reasonable, I'm just gonna do it.
