Back to my book.  I am reading "The Life She Was Given".  If It wasn't so interesting I might have fallen asleep by now.

I voted!  I saw that Jason Graae had two nominations, and that one of the Kritzerland shows was nominated:

17) Best Special Theatre Event: The Songs That Got Away VII - Kritzerland at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal!

Looks like the NYC subway announcements will no lomnger start with "Ladies and gentlemen."  Instead, the announcements will be gender-neutral, like "Passengers" or "Riders" or "Everyone"

And here's the Thatch Report for today:
I went to bed around 9:00, put Annabelle in the bathroom, and set his plate of food away from the bookcase so he would have to come out of hiding to eat.  It had been sitting - half of the plate under the bookcase - uneaten since 6:00 or so.

It was really warm in the apartment, so I slept fitfully, but I would occasionally hear sounds if activity from the Thatch corner.  At one point I thought I heard movement under my bed.  Occasionally I would hear this very little mewing, and I'd think, I hope this means he wants to be rescued.

Around 12:00, i was awakened by a crash of something falling, so I thought, Thatch is out and about.  I went to use the bathroom and brought Annabelle back to sleep with me.  I checked the plate of food, which was empty, and I thought, this is not a bad sign.  At 2:00, Thatch and Annabelle got into it and woke me.  He was up on top of some books on one of the lower shelves behind my bed.  The crash that woke me earlier had been the books falling when he'd climbed up into the cranny.  Annabelle was tired of his crap, so she was striking back, spitting and hissing, and trying to reach him.  I took her away, moved the bed, dragged him fighting and scratching out from the books, and carried him into the bathroom.

I took in a plate of treats, Annabelle's tent bed which she had stopped using, and left him there.

This morning, he was sleeping in Annabelle's litter box, but he ran to her tent bed when I came in.  Juggling him staying in and keeping Annabelle out is an ordeal. let me tell you!

I went to the market thinking, I'm not socializing this poor baby, I'm only making him more problematic for others.  If this experiment fails, I do not want some shelter euthanizing him for being unsocialized.

So, when I got back from market and prepared Thatch's food and Annabelle's food, I took his plate, along with the towel she sits on to watch the birds, into the bathroom.  He had eaten the dry food I left with him last night, and he was again lying in the litter box.  There's certainly no problem with him getting used to her scent at this point.

I set the food down and tried to pet him.  He shrank into the litter and hissed.  I spoke gently to him and kept petting him.  Then I stuck my finger into the food, and he licked it off my finger.  He ate a bit out of my hand, then I set the plate hear him.  As I left the bathroom, he was eating.

I hope we are on the right road.  Milla has sent me the name of a cat counselor, and I will talk to him tomorrow.  Today I am off to the sitzprobe for BRIGADOON.

I'm not sure which shot I got.  Usually the wait isn't that long. But it's the first week of the free shots. And it was very convenient since I had to drop my niece off for swim team.  It actually turned out even better since I was able to spend the hour in the lobby of the pool and watch her swim.

OMG, what a story.

I am on the train, almost at Grand Central, on my way to meet DR Elmore at today’s rehearsals.

It sounds to me like progress is being made, but of course we want to hear of more.

This is such a challenge with these critters.

Thatch seems to be coming along.

Tomorrow is a Post Office Holiday, so that probably means the banks will be closed as well.

I forgot to mention that the Monday car repair included brakes, a leaking shock in the back, and the replacing of the dogbone motor mount which was apparently broken....total: $700!!

But they did it all in one day....I think I may have found a new car repair place.

I had to brush my teeth, and Thatch was back crouching in the litter box.  I brought him a little dry food and he jumped ot of the box for it and, while he ate, I petted him and spoke quietly to him.  I think I need to establish some rapport with him after treating him so roughly as he fought me for the past two days. Annabelle continues to want very much to check out the situation, but I do not think they are ready for another confrontation yet.  She's hell-bent to get into that bathroom.

I've let her know that the litter box I had for Thatch was now at her disposal (NO PUN INTENDED!), so we'll see if she uses it while I'm away.
