I just had to turn the heat on for the first time since last winter. I’m thankful that it’s working.

I turned on the air conditioner. It was 84 in the house.

I am tired. I have such a small kitchen. No kitchen today would be designed like they were 50 years ago. Fixing a big meal in such a small kitchen is difficult.

We have returned from a lovely Thanksgiving Day at Laura’s.  In addition to us and her parents, we were joined by her friends Sue and Larry, their son Michael, and his 17-year-old twins, Will and Isabella.

I just got in from a wonderful day with my friend and colleague Jason, his partner Mario, and their guests Peter, Fred, Rozeanne, and Rollie.  The dinner was really wonderful and the conversation lively and scintillating.

Annabelle and Thatch are alive  - no violence in my absence -and they seem to have enjoyed their dinner of duck and tuna.

I don't know how my mom did this. She did it until she was about 80.

She did some. The turkey was about to come out of the oven, but she shaped the rolls, mixed the corn casserole, and made the gravy. She ate with us, then I took her home to have dinner with her dad, sister, and grandma.

She had never had ham. She liked it, but really liked the dark meat turkey and stuffing and gravy.

Everybody  brought something

There was

2 turkeys. The '"regular" turkey for everyone and the halal turkey for my SIL's BIL who is a practicing Muslim (he's Turkish)

2 types of gravy (regular and halal)

2 types of stuffing (sausage  and bread/cranberry )

Mashed potatoes (with French onion butter and sour cream whipped in)

Sherry/butter/garlic mushrooms

Cauliflower casserole

Roasted Brussels sprouts

Green bean casserole (with cream of mushroom soup and those fried onions things on top)

Spanakopia

Yams ( my SIL slices them into little circles and roasts them..)

Mashed turnips

Dessert was chocolate pudding with fresh whipped cream

Mixed berry pie with vanilla ice cream

Chocolate cornucopia with fancy bakery cookies
