I can't remember -- do any of us have grandchildren?

Not having any is why we travel so much.

The horrible fire in Bel-Air was not intentional.   It was started by illegal cooking at a homeless encampment :(

If anyone here knows especially Latino NYC-based actors who sing really well, and who would be willing to audition for a 29-hour Equity reading of our new musical VIVA MAX! (very tiny stipend), it would be great if you could direct them to our producers' Backstage listing at:

https://www.backstage.com/casting/2018-tru-voices-new-musicals-reading-series-200133/

(Auditions are by appointment Sat. Dec. 16 for all three shows in the TRU Voices Reading series.)

Rehearsals January 8 to 15, 2018 for the presentation on Monday night January 15, 2018 (7 p.m.) at The Actors Temple Theatre, 339 W. 47th Street, NYC.

Casting the TRU Voices New Musicals Reading Series. Series includes:
"Viva Max!" - Evan Pappas, director (music & lyrics by Skip Kennon, book by Julie Miller & Fred Landau, based on the novel by Jim Lehrer; produced by Yoni Vendriger and Mor Cohen; performs Mon. Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.)

Thanks if you know anyone and can pass the info on!

I just finished watching The Young Visiters or Mr Salteena's Plan, which I really enjoyed for its clever and successful mix of sophistication and naïveté.  The BBC adaptation adroitly juggles 9 year-old Daisy Ashford's Victorian novel of romance and social status along with her spelling errors (Blackfriers and the Prince of Whales are quite prominently on display) and a look at the adult world through a child's eyes.  It has wonderful humor, several surreal moments, vivid color, and a terrific, very game cast.

I laughed at much of it and wept at the end.  We often don't end up with the one we wanted, as Mr Salteena learns.

Not to get political (well, I will for just a moment), but Doug Jones has won Alabama's special Senate election.  It was pretty close...49.5% to 48.8%.  They said that he's the first Democrat in two decades to do so.

You mean we in San Antonio beat you? How strange is that?

It has been a long, long day. Just back from Austin. Had a great time catching up with my friend Deborah after work. She's going to start making a documentary of a band named 8 1/2 Souvenirs. So, we went to see them after dinner. Fun group. I think they called it gypsy swing. A few of the oldies they do are Bei Mir Bist Du Shoen and It's Alright With Me. They also do bossa nova, Italian pop songs from the '50s and '60s, and just crazy, feel-good tunes.

Thanks, George!  7 of the 10 performers are cast, which is actually not a bad percentage with four weeks before rehearsals - but hoping good folks will appear for the other 3.

That's great!  There are a couple of local groups that play similar styles of music:  Pearl Django (from Seattle) and Hot Club Sandwich, who are from Olympia!  They're both very good!
