Tomorrow we will be in Durban.  We have been notified that the ship is not permitted to serve alcohol while in port.  I looked it up and apparently South Africa has passed regulations to reduce the drinking problem.

We have a working elevator for the moment, so I've been to the market, and the kitties are fed. I need to pay a couple of bills and post them tomorrow.

Today was another example of Walt Disney getting it right.

Marge Champion was the model for the Disney dancing hippos.

It’s warmer today than yesterday but it feels colder today.

Yesterday, Jane asked, "DR George do you have a favorite animal I might find in Africa?"

Jane, no, I don't have a favorite animal, but my sister collects elephants.  If you can find a really nice elephant keychain and wouldn't mind that it's for my sister (and I definitely will pay you for it, so if you can find something special, that would be great), I'm sure that she would love getting one that's actually from Africa. :)

I too love elephants.  On the 20th we are going to an elephant park.  Maybe I will get lucky there and find a good one.  If not there should be other opportunities going forward.

Thanks so much! :-*

Today, I'm ushering for the other local production of "The Nutcracker" ballet.  I have to find (and probably wash) my black pants first, though.  I couldn't find them yesterday, so I wore some dark gray slacks, which is allowed when working concessions.  For ushering, it has to be black pants (or whatever on the lower half) and white on top.  I have a couple of clean white shirts, so I'm set there.

Whew!  Black pants have been found and washed.  Now, I'm just watching some TV before I have to leave.

Good news #1

A theater company in Illinois wants to read the play. I learned keep plugging away at it. As soon as the play is locked I will send it to them.

That's great, Michael!

Good New #2

I found out last night from the producer that the subject of the first play Ruth: The Cemetery Angel will be attending our play in January. The actress playing the role is thrilled to get a chance to meet her.

Nice!

Joan Jett last night was fun. Her punk version of the Mary Tyler Moore theme song was the highlight for me.

That's so cool!  I love her version of that song!

The elevator crew has been here every other day now for a week: it runs for a brief shining moment and dies.  It was dead last night when I went out at 7:30 and it's still dead, so I'm going nowhere at present.  i cannot navigate stairs and several bags of groceries.  Val tells me the new elevator installation will begin in January.

A new elevator is great, but January is certainly not soon enough! :-\

The hippos were very cute and since it was their sleep time they left us alone.  The boat tour was great, lots of pods (family groups) of hippos, a baby and an adult croc, along with beautiful birds including African Sea Eagles.  Keith is compiling photos to create a video for Facebook.  I haven't a clue how to share it here.

If you (or someone who already has an account ;) ) can upload it to YouTube, that link could be posted here.

The test of a good production is how they handle the growing Christmas tree.
