Regarding FB, it's time for A Major Announcement.  (That's kind of like A Major Award, but possibly even more exciting.)

There have been too many instances in the past several months of my not knowing something going on with friends or events which concern me, all due to my historical refusal to participate in the world of social media other than having a FB account for linking with half a dozen friends from high school and following a few groups.  I still have a mighty disdain for the culture because of the monster it is and the way so many people use it.  But after much thought, I'm dipping my toes back in the water to give it a more serious try.

All of which means I'm about to do something shocking, shocking.  I'm going to "friend" a few people from each of the areas of my life and see how it goes, and I shall begin right here by giving BK and a few of you the first honors.  Please be gentle.

To put it in musical comedy terms, Ephraim, I have decided to rejoin the human race.

Ha.  Excellent, DR FJL.

And yes, DR Jrand67, I certainly hope to "manage" it to the best of my ability.

C'mon in, DR ChasSmith, the water's fine.  One of my favorite techniques for dealing with the "noise:"  When a friend shares someone else's post that I don't like, I don't unfriend my friend.  But you can click on the little dots in the upper right hand corner of your friend's post and get the option to "Hide all from..." and stop seeing the source of the original post.  I don't care what my friends like/share, but I don't need to see all of it.

Interesting mention, Jrand, that people discuss the guys who have had many marriages.

I've wondered if stars kidded for having many marriages and divorces (Liz Taylor, ZsaZsa, Johnny Carsn) had simply never married but switched significant others every two or three or four years, if anything at all would have been made of the jumping from one to the other.

I often hide posts I don't want to see but never thought about doing that with the original "shared from".  I searched for something to test this on and saw I had the option to do it for 30 days or always.

Re Facebook - I'm waiting for my ChasSmith friend request.  Here's the problem with Facebook and it's easy to avoid: The people who ultimately get ridiculous on Facebook are the people who somehow think Facebook is all about them.  Nope.  Facebook is best used for keeping in touch with family, I suppose, but mostly for promotional purposes is what it's very useful for.  I rarely post anything other than that and rarely post there about anything before posting here, where it really IS about all of us because we don't have algorithms and ads and all that BS.  Facebook is not what it started out to be - adults weren't even allowed on it - now the kids wouldn't be caught dead on Facebook because it's been overrun with too many wacky needy adults (not any of us, of course, but certainly I would have to say some former dear readers would fall into that category, people who no longer come here because they think they've made Facebook all their own), too much politics and me, me, me, and some stuff clearly "borrowed" from this here message board - the proliferation of folks asking for vibes is funny to me, because that started with one of our former dear readers doing it and it was picked up on).  Kids have moved onto other things - adults have even taken over Instagram now.  It's hilarious - these especially older folks a decade or two ago wouldn't have been caught dead with a cell phone or on Facebook, and today it's all they do.  Kids used to be the cell phone abusers in theaters - now it's all the older folks and especially the really older folks, who literally cannot put their phones down.  So, my advice to ChasSmith is - be gentle with Facebook and use it wisely and you'll be okay.  Do NOT get sucked into things because you'll find you cannot win - trolls are everywhere, bots are everywhere, and obnoxious people are everywhere.  I've taken too many fools on and it turns out they are trolls or fake accounts run by bots, and that stuff is a complete waste of anyone's time.

many wacky needy adults

You don't have to sell me any more than that.  Sounds like a lot of fun!  :)  Can I just somehow filter out the ones who are evil, destructive and nasty?

I forgot a couple of cast albums yesterday:

Chicago
New Girl in Town

Or maybe those fit in today's category.

Since no one has mentioned it, one of the greatest cast albums ever made - The Most Happy Fella.  The only downside of that magnificent complete cast album is it isn't in stereo.

And limit who you accept.  In the beginning I had many invites from friends of friends I wish I had not accepted.  Many of these people I enjoy very much and it has been interesting meeting them.  Others are ok.  My main problem is I have more friends than I wish I had.

Anyone recall this line spoken by Audrey Hepburn in "Charade": (might apply to having too many friends) :)

I already know an awful lot of people, so until one of them dies I couldn't possibly meet anyone else

I thought I remembered it, and yes, here it is on IMDb:

Peter Joshua: Do we know each other?
Reggie Lampert: Why, do you think we're going to?
Peter Joshua: How would I know?
Reggie Lampert: Because I already know an awful lot of people, so until one of them dies I couldn't possibly meet anyone else.
Peter Joshua: Well, if anyone goes on the critical list, let me know.

Another favorite line from last night's opening remarks.  I was introducing my co-host and said for the first time in Robby Awards history two people of the same gender are co-hosting.  I then asked if it was still okay to say gender because I never know what words are in or out.  Then I said, "I think I'm what they call a cis-gender or I identify as a cis-gender although I have no idea what that means and actually at my age gender is irrelevant."  :)

I am very tired and I am home.  The orchestra for Grand Hotel sounds great and it was nice to see friends I hadn't seen in some time/

The procedure went well, although they were running ate and I could have left the apartment nearly 30 minutes later.

I enjoyed reading about the Robby Awards....I love to attend Awards Presentations.....I enjoy watching them on television less and less....

Every year, the Olympia Film Society hosts an Academy Awards Oscars Party, where the Oscars are streamed live and you watch the show on the big screen with an audience.  People get dressed up and walk the red carpet and all that.  My friend Margo has gone several time, but for some reason, I've never gone.  And this year, there will be an actual Academy Award statue at the event!  That's pretty cool!
