I wonder if in the 2010s, someone onstage in a wheelchair meeting Mushnik's fate would cause unwanted, very real controversy.

I recall even in the day of GREMLINS when the evil Polly Holliday character met her death on a chairlift getting up the stairs, some thought it was hilarious, but even then there was a mini-stirring against that. Can't imagine any studio letting that in a film made this decade.

Tuesday afternoon greetings! I've been to Brown's Run Country Club for a very nice DAR luncheon meeting. We honored 4 of our 6 high school essay winners and they give me hope for the future. Very articulate young people.

Our DR ChasSmith and I just parted company at the 82nd Street Cafe where we had a late luncheon. It was a lovely visit. Miss Annabelle was delighted to pose and prance around, while Thatch, as ever, hid out and tried to avoid him. He was even skittish around me no matter how much turkey I used to bribe him.
