The concert last night was fine. I loved the Symphonic songs from On the Town and a cello concerto called Schlomo.

Not Symphonic Dances from West Side Story?

Nope. Maybe next fall. They’re doing a lot of Bernstein but not the overly produced ones.

So what are Symphonic Songs from On The Town?

One is the Lonely Town pas de deux. I think another is the Times Square Act I finale. I didn't keep the program. Sorry. I'll see if I can find one tonight.

Three Dance Episodes from On the Town is the score title, I think.

That is it. The pieces are called The Great Lover, Lonely Town Pas de Deux and Times Square: 1944. I grabbed a program.

Today I watched MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN. I tried to read the book a few years ago, but I'd purchased my copy used from Amazon, which is my custom these days. I look for Like New or Very Good copies. My copy was supposed to be one of the two, but instead was filled with markings from what appeared to be an adolescent girl to her friend. Most unappealing! I'm not surprised it appealed to Tim Burton. I think it works better as a movie than a novel.

Of course, if the wedding reception gets WILD, then DR Laura might be the better choice. She can sneak up on a snake like nobody's business. NOT that there will be any sn**es near Vixmom or family.

Well, I enjoyed A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. It was a non-Equity tour. James Taylor Odom played the D'Ysquith family and Blake Price was Monty Navarro.

The audience either was with the show or didn't get it. We lost a lot at intermission. But the folks that stayed really enjoyed it. And there was more laughter in the second half that in the first.

The New World was enjoyable except I had a patron who would not shut up during the piece. His neighbors told him to, I told him to, but he was so excited that he just couldn’t stop whispering to his girlfriend about the piece. And the acoustics in the hall are so good that you can hear every cough, Murder or candy wrapper throughout the whole balcony where I was working. And there was no manager to get him to stop or eject him.

I find that if a murder is happening at least four rows away, it’s not so bad, but I do rather resent the ensuing commotion.

;D  Yes, it really interrupts the show.

I've heard actors saying "we killed tonight" but never audience members killing each other.

Of course, one should never go to a show (or anywhere) as Jessica Fletcher's plus-one.  No good can come of that.

I am proud of myself, I got up on time 6:30 am(Formerly known as 5:30 am) emptied the dishwasher , folded the clothes in the dryer, dried the church linens, took a shower, dressed, ironed the church linens, stopped at 7/11 and bought a gallon of milk and arrived at church by 8 am

We have been without a working dishwasher for 4 months now.  If I had the energy I would go buy one today, maybe next week.

Why happened to yours?

Sunday evening greetings!  This morning I saw Fr. Richard off to conduct a service in Dayton and Rob and Mary Linda off to Paris, France.  Then I got myself together and went to an arts & crafts supply swap at the Pendleton Art Center in downtown Middletown.  I went with 2 bags full and came home with one, which is fine.  The leftovers are being donated to a program that does summer art classes for kids.  Came home for a late lunch and a much-needed nap.

the YMCA in Alexandria, VA had a deal like that. Perfect for elementary school teachers, as well as craftspersons.

A literary group in San Antonio called Gemini Ink brings in authors for readings. I've seen Terry McMillan, Horton Foote, Ernest J. Gaines and Atwood one other time at previous readings. In short, they get very, very good writers.

This morning I was trying to write the word "Calendula" (an herb), but my hand kept writing "Calendar," just like the stupid spellcheck goes to something familiar. I felt like slapping my hand.

Went out to brunch with friends today. Really nice. Had steak frites with a nice bit of Burgundy. We also shared a basket of freshly made pastries, including a scone, a blueberry coffee cake, banana nut bread and a killer espresso chocolate chip cookie. I could have another of those baskets all to myself. No sharing.

The basket of pastries sounds good.

Paris France is going to be cold.....I can't get my weather app to give me my own weather - but I do know the temp in Paris France.

;D

We were there in April, went from a beat wave to being very glad I had my winter coat.
