Got to sleep in a little bit, could have used even more.

Saturday, and plenty to get done.

First and foremost:  Coffee!

And it’s Record Store Day. I’ll stop in as usual to the local emporium to enjoy the goings on for a little while and to wish them well.

Was Kostelanetz on Columbia Records? Such a famous name, but I honestly can’t say I ever heard any of his recordings. More likely, I did and just wasn’t aware of it.

Just checked, and of course Columbia. I would wager my mom and dad acquired a few of those albums from the record club.

More coffee!

Some breakfast meats wouldn’t hurt none, either, while you’re at it. Thanks.

I had bad news last night.  My cousin Judy, who's a year younger than I, died yesterday from heart failure.  I found a post on Facebook from her daughter Michelle last night, and sent an email to my cousin Sue, who's my most sensible cousin, for details.  I got her email this morning.

Sincere condolences.

 :(

Thank you.  She had moved to California years ago, and I honestly don't think I'd seen her in 40+ years.  We reconnected about three years ago when her sister gave her my email address and we kept in touch on Facebook.  Until I left for college at 17, she, her sister, my ass brother Macbeth, and I were inseparable.

Good memerories, sad losses.  My condolences  :(

He was married to soprano Lily Pons.

re the loud beep from the computer - when I closed the window I was in I saw what it was - one of those scam pop-up warning ads telling you your computer has been compromised and to call a number immediately.  Sure, right.  I closed out of it and that was that.

Thank you, all, for the condolences.

Judy was the epitome of unfulfilled promise: pretty, a good student and artist who made every wrong choice imaginable.  By twenty, she was pregnant and married.  I think my last contact with her was in my twenties.  She and her husband had returned from France where they lived for several years while he was working there. She hated it, didn't seem to care a bit for being in Europe, did little, accomplished little but give birth, and her dismissal of the situation was "the people never wash; they stink."  The marriage ended soon after they moved to California, and she worked at low-paying  jobs and moved from man to man.  I still have a lot of resentment over her poor choices.

Here's a 1983 photo of her and her two children.

Saturday morning greetings!  For the first time in several weeks, I'm NOT at a Saturday ladies' luncheon, but Mary Linda is.  Richard and I are about to watch Barbara Bush's funeral on C-Span - him for the liturgical pomp, me for the history.

Because I wrote this and have nowhere to post it but here, this was my ode to having totally forgotten about My fair Lady opening Thursday night until after midnight, because I was totally hypnotized by the release of the Jim Comey memos, until around 11:30 p.m.  I finally recognized the Comey memos were a non-story, nothing to see here after excitedly reading them. Biggest political news let-down I can recall.  Then i went back to email and saw the My Fair Lady reviews there all at once!

Tune of “Show Me”  (an imagined cast of My Fair Lady opening night version)

(verse)  Ow -
Nerds, nerds, nerds, all you theater nerds!
All the praise here is true.
But what’s happened to you?
That D.C. distraction won’t do!

We’re getting raves, five-star reviews
What’s in the news?  Comey!
Our show should be on the front page.
What’s all the rage?  Comey!

Here we are with notices that say we are a coup
Spotlight’s on Jim, we say “us too”
Every stupid memo says what you’ve already heard
Focus on Jim is absurd.

In a small role, cheers for Ms. Rigg!
But look who’s big - Comey, Comey!
Don’t let Jim’s prose put you to sleep.
Please go call Telecharge now
Comey – oww!

I hear you, Larry.  And I'm so sorry for your loss.

But choices become bad sometimes because of other people sometimes.  Things that look great when you choose them can become bad choices only in retrospect due to the results and impact of other people.  When i was sick, Skip looked for help to my brother and sister-in-law, trusting them.  We now call my sister-in-law Lady Macbeth.  Skip never would have imagined Joann would behave as she did, especially since the family really rallied around her when she and my brother had been ill in the past.  Skip made what he thought was a reasonable choice, but you never know how someone will react.

Later edit:  I took out detail about Milla and Julie.

Thanks, KevinH!

Hope the rant didn't upset anyone.  (Not sure, maybe I'll edit in before the day gets closed.  i know Julie is beloved, and she and her great qualities were appreciated by me for many years, even in the "My dead aunt thanks you" period.  :)
