Last night I said I'd go to the big flea market this morning. Well, the weather (chilly and rainy) just saved me from having to do that! Basking in my Sunday morning at home.

(Think:  recliner, cinnamon rolls, coffee...)

I'm listening to another Blu Spec CD, some kind of technology that produces much more accurate music from normal CDs. It's not SACD, but the two I now have are so far above their regular CD counterparts - I mean it's a HUGE difference for the better.  This one is George Szell conducting the first and third movements of the Mahler Tenth (the short third movement had never been released before), Walton's Partita for Orchestra, and Stravinsky's The Firebird - all these performances are perfection and I am just bowled over by the uptick in sound.

I don't think I'd heard of Blu Spec before this. I just glanced over the relatively few classical titles tagged as such on Amazon, and this one sounds the most appealing. Essential, even. Damn. Another temptation. But one I shall resist for a while.

I'm on my second cuppa coffee and watching Annabelle and Thatch wrestle.  She's been impatient for me to clean the litter so we can patrol the building, but i'm moving very slowly this morning.

So, last night, we're watching a documentary on HBO about Nora Ephron, when our TV cable box goes out.

The other smaller TVs in the house are okay, but our main one won't be fixed until Tuesday.

Since they will probably switch out boxes, everything we have recorded will be lost.

 :( >:(

It is frustrating when that happens.

DR ELMORE I'm going to put a couple of friends on your property selling....is there any chance that the development people from a few years ago would still be interested?  I keep getting this from the cards I lay out for the situation.

Today is our program committee meeting where no one listens to reason and we end up with the worst combination of shows in community theatre history.....i.e. this season:

ANNIE
THE MOUSETRAP
DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
BAREFOOT IN THE PARK

Two Kid-Centric BIG musicals in the same season....why?  The plays are better choices....but still....why?

This is followed by our May Board Meeting and the auditions for THE MOUSETRAP, wherein many people who should only be allowed into the theatre if they buy a ticket will show up to advertise their not-able-to-read skills....to say nothing of their "accents."

Usually our plays with accents turn out to be sort of a Cook's Tour of Europe and Asia....with a bit of South America for good measure.

South America, take it away!

I got sidetracked by a real desire to mop the bathroom floor and clean up the mess left after the bathtub overflow. Once the floor is dry and I can put things back, I'll make my market jaunt.

Richard and I attended the Middletown Historical Society annual fundraising dinner last night.  It's always a nice event and the program was all about WPFB, the late local radio station.

Maybe the theatre should get ahead of the curve on this.  :)

Who knows?  Maybe the "Last Starfighter" film remake will be sooner than we thought:

The bathroom is finished.  It really needed a good cleaning, and I will shortly make my market trek.
