Well, you've read the notes, the notes contemplated its navel, and now it is time for you to post until the contemplating cows come home.

Today is grocery day.  But before I go I want to give you a warning.  IF you choreograph a number in a musical - and then you have to go to the rehearsal center for a read-thru - when you come back, the "choreographer" of record will have changed your number for no other reason than because HER name is in the program.

It certainly wasn't an improvement.....it's a sad thing because of course the dancing couple is caught in the middle....

I'll try to fix it tonight using some of her steps....and some new ones....and I got a lecture on what steps Fred Astaire did and did NOT do.....which was most appreciated.....  :-X

Today will be a most curious day.  One of my best friends in Ohio in the 1970s is in town this week to visit his daughter, who is doing quite well in the NY theatre scene.  In 1980, my friend worked with Franz Allers on the Richard Burton revival of Camelot and conducted the tour.  He left the show when Burton's replacement, Richard Harrison, wanted to bring in "his" people and returned to Ohio. Shortly after his marriage fell apart and he ended up in Los Angeles.

For various reasons, the principal one being that the Memorial Day weekend that he moved to Los Angeles was the same weekend his wife, another of my best friends, flew to New York to have a nervous breakdown in my apartment.  It was a painful weekend but I'm happy that I was there for her.

As a consequence, I have not spoken to my conductor friend in nearly 40 years.

Twice in the past I rejected his attempts to rebuild our friendship because of my friends in Ohio.

Two years ago, during my bouts of unemployment and no kitties to divert me, I started writing my memoirs, primarily at Joshie's urging, since he was curious about comments I'd mentioned.  At the same time I was becoming aware that my former friend's wife was showing signs of dementia, which saddened me since she had always been a sharp cookie.

So, since my former friend was an essential part of my life for seven years and a person who encouraged me orchestration and gave me a reading of anything I scored with a community orchestra he and his then-wife became a big part of my memoirs and I decided to track him down and thank him.

His return email was very friendly and through it I became friends with his daughter and son-in-law, who was the assistant director of the new musical Frozen.

So, today we meet.  I look forward to it with some apprehension.  Forty years can be a long time.  We'll see.

BK.

You neglected to mention that Edward Dmytryk directed MIRAGE.

He's been gone for many years, but he was my publicity client for a long time, so I'm just doing my job.

 :D

BTW: I also agree that it's a terrific movie that holds up for multiple viewings.

Thursday morning greetings!  I get to stay home all day until it’s time to accompany Fr. Richard to the church where he’s delivering the Ascension Day sermon.

I, too, loved MIRAGE and went to it a few times. It was one of the first movies to play in the newest theater in Fort Lauderdale at the time. On top of loving everything about the film in its own right, I always associated the thrill of it with that sleek new theater.

Agree about amnesia films. But with that caveat, this one hits every high mark, in spades.

I still have the movie tie-in paperback edition of the original novel. At least I think that’s what it is, and not a screenplay novelization. Will take it out when I’m back, and probably give it a quick read for the first time since that opening week.

Annabelle and I did our patrol.  All she wanted to do was lie down on the stairs á la Cleopatra, so it was a short patrol.

I've been to market and got a little roast beef for Thatch, who ate it right up, and Annabelle, who scorned it, preferring Purina Party Mix.  U'm going to vacuum next and that's it.

DR George returned awhile ago, we just didn't have TNT anymore.  We watched it on Amazon last night.  Keith got a free trial subscription to the YouTube station looks great on his computer but for some strange reason not on our tv.
