Are you, OzDerek, near our beloved TomovOz?

Good morning, afternoon, evening (that covers ALL bases) ...

I am approximately one hour (drive) away from Tomovoz.

Probably about 20 hours (flying) from New York.

Does that mean if I leave today, I arrive yesterday  ::)  ::)  ::)

OzDerek, I'm in New York, Manhattan, the Center of the World, in some folks opinions. I know there will be others to counter that viewpoint ;-)

Mama Rose, certainly, if no one else.

I am going to repost something that our dear Jose posted last night.  I want everyone here to read it very very carefully.  Here it is:

"And after reading through all the posts yesterday that had been posted since I had posted in the morning...

This is a very wonderful place on the internet.  One big happy family.  Yes, dysfunctional at times, but what family is truly "functional" anyway?  It's nice to have a place where we all can talk about our daily lives, from the big issues down to the trivialities.  We can laugh.  We can cry.  We can smile.  We can offer words of comfort, and hearty pats on the back.  We can talk about "pudding" and "underpants" in the same sentence.  -It may not be pretty, but where else on the net could those two words be put in the same sentence, as BK would say - and I think he did.

Best of all, we can move on.

And we did."

But apparently not everyone can.  I found the post that re-instigated this mess totally unacceptable and unnecessary.  As Jose so eloquently said, we'd moved on.  Anything else should have been done privately.  I am truly sorry that dear reader Panni could not let this go, and that she felt it necessary to make this post today.  She has informed me she's leaving the site.  I find that totally unnecessary too, especially since, as Jose points out, we've had this sort of thing before, and much worse, and we get over it and move on.  However,  if that's her decision because she simply cannot let things go, then that is her decision.  I'm sure we'll all miss her, and maybe she'll come back after a time.   But there was simply no reason that I can see to have dredged this up again when we all were pretty much back to normal.   Well, people come, people go, like Grand Hotel.  I love our site, I love our hainsies/kimlets, I have tried my damndest to keep things bright through this tempest in a teapot, and I would only hope that NO ONE take sides in this and that no one leaves the site because they took sides.  This is not a black-and-white situation.  There are no "victims" and there are no "evil bad people".   I adore you all - now LET'S GET BACK TO WHAT WE'RE ABOUT.

Signed,
BK Falafel.

DR OzDerek.. It's good morning.  I am about 30 miles South East of Thornbury Heights.  Does that help?

Ha Ha Tomovoz!

For all those not in the know, I live in Thornbury - about 15 mins outside of the main city of Melbourne.

My modest accommodation, which Tomovoz and I refer to as "Thornbury Heights" is hardly palatial, however it is fit for a king (or a queen!)

Of course, Guy Haines could always record my translation of Brel's La Chanson des Vieux Amants, since Karen Akers promised she would twenty-four years ago and never did.  Yes, he could.

Only because Blau's translation is so dreadful.

Blau's lyric for "Carousel", i.e. "Valse à mil temps" is, however, in my opinion, superior to the original.

Let us have no pall over the room.  I do know some people would like to have a Paul (as in Haber) over the room.  He's been visiting our site recently - I hope he hasn't been scared away.

Also on tonight on TCM is Marilyn Miller in SUNNY. If you've never seen this creaky old film, it's worth it to see Marilyn Miller, one of the great stars of Broadway in one of her few movie roles (of one of her biggest Broadway hits). The movie was originally made in two-strip Technicolor, but that version is long gone, so it's in B&W. However, she's made up for a Technicolor camera so she looks like a cupie doll in certain scenes with the heavy make-up. Still, worth a peep.

It's either midnight or 12:30 a.m. when it broadcasts.

So many wonderful song suggestions.  Ultimately, it all boils down to fifteen songs and those songs have to work with each other to make a satisfying album.  I love this part - just hearing old songs, new songs, familiar and unfamiliar songs.

Think Mancini, too....

...Two For the Road...(a clever guy can make a "duet" out of that)...

...or Whistling in the Dark....

The Orpheum Theater in Sioux City which was restored a few years ago recently restored the original Wurlitzer Organ. To celebrate they are presenting a step back into the 1920s by having a silent film festival which includes Lon Chaney in Phantom of the Opera, Charlie Chaplin in Gold Rush, and Charlie Chaplin in A Dog's Life in the original 35MM format accompained by Dennis James on the Wurlitzer.

Sounds like fun!

Listening to a lovely Frank Loesser song on WMKV that might be good for Guy..."Where Are You? (Now That I Need You)"  Could have a chorus of young beauties behind him...which I know he likes.  If they're behind him, they can't see his face.

Limbo under the falafel!  How low can you go?

Good afternoon all.
I am back and am now staple-free.  The doctor says I am healing nicely, no infection or brusing, and should be back to normal in a month or so.  Goody.
