Jane is here.  We love Jane.

How come Ann never even acknowledges all my nice posts about her.  It MUST have something do with staples.

Aren't you sweet.  I would love an egg bagel right now, maybe more than a falafel.  I do enjoy pumpernickel but mostly egg please with a few rye, depending on how many you can send.

Okey Dokey ! Well signing off for the evening ..quality time with the family donchaknow

SWW I’m enjoying your stories of the Grandlads and their appreciation of music.

Bruce it is hard for me to imagine CP has never heard you play.  In my mind you still spend hours playing and singing.  :)

Only in California would such a thing be legal, I tell ya.

Jane, I wish he would play and sing.  I hear he is almost as good as that Guy Haines fellow.

Guy is looking for duet songs; I'm merely recommending Everything I Got.  But I think it would be a good one.  I'm fond of Blossom Dearie's rendition of Nothing To Do But Relax on the Bagley album...the only version I've ever heard.  I think Mr. Haines could give it the same sort of genial insousiance that he conveys on If I Had My Druthers.

I'm back!  DRPogue, I'd be happy to send you or Bruce a copy of the song for Mr Haines; it's a great suggestion since I love Rodgers and Hart.  I wish I had a copy of "Nothing to do but Relax," and maybe I can cadge a copy when I go to proofread the new edition of THE KING AND I.  There are other great R&H duets as well; "Every Sunday Afternoon" is one of my faves, as are "Den of Iniquity," "Too Good for the Average Man," "He and She," "Just Send For Me," and I love the duet from DEAREST ENEMY "I Beg Your Pardon."

Here's the book I was browsing today.  Very funny!

Today's Hint For Roofers:

Do not hang your jacket over the water heater flue, as the blaring smoke alarm and smoky house tends to frighten the homeowner.

ROTFLOL-I hope the roofer's are done soon.

The episode  was entitled "The Dummy" , it's from 1962. The dummy is named Willy..Scary scary story...especially when you are 6....it still creeps me out..

I won't watch that.  Even worse, was the episode -was it Outer Limits-with the creepy doll.

elmore,  I was thinking HE & SHE would be a good one as well, as I was sitting in the bathtub today, persuing Hart's exquisite lyrics!

elmore, it's always cringing to see my spelling errors appear in other people's posts when they re-print my post.  It is, of course, Nobody's Heart Belongs to Me, which I've corrected now in the original.

I, too, love BOYS FROM SYRACUSE.  Do you have the complete score to BY JUPITER because you worked on a restoration recording of it...Don't I remember something about that in your unseemingly interview?  If so, please refresh my memory...this is probably a recording I should have.

DRPogue, my two restorations of JUBILEE  (Cole Porter) and DEAREST ENEMY (Rodgers & Hart) still await commitment to disc.  At several times, Bruce and I discussed JUBILEE but I was difficult:  I wanted a 2-disc set of the whole score and then an Appendix of Cole Porter songs to fill out the second disc.  PS Classics has expressed an interest in recording it now since Tommy Krasker, who runs PS Classics with his partner Phillip, was my collaborator on the JUBILEE restoration.  If you don't mind 3 CDs of one hour each and no tracking so it's a lot of dialogue as well as most of the score, I can send you a set of the BBC Radio-3 broadcast from Christmas week, 1999.

DEAREST ENEMY, is getting revisions from its 2002 performances at the Village Light opera Group and will hopefully go into the Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatre rentals next year (?).  Perhaps, then, we'll get performances to generate a recording.  I can send you a CD of excerpts from the VLOG performances (badly played but not too badly sung).

I thought of a funny Cole Porter duet Mr Haines might light, originally sung by Betty Grable and Arthur Treacher, I believe:  "They Ain't Done Right By Our Nell."
"I can still recall my last affair
He was smart, he was rich, he went everywhere
Well, he did until he went to the chair
They ain't done right by our Nell" (or something like that)

I went back and scanned your unseemly interview, elmore.  Alas, I was thinking of JUBILEE...not BY JUPITER.  But I probably need JUBILEE too!

And I never answered the other question!  I collect vocal scores from show, and I bought a ms photocopy of BY JUPITER, along with the vocal score to PURLIE!, from a used book dealer at 86th and Broadway several years ago.

Nicely stated.  It is really good to have you back.

Taking a leetle break from writing.  I've only done three pages today, but that is usually my norm anyway.  But they were difficult pages for a variety of reasons and also a hollywood reporter of reasons.

And yes, Mr. Guy Haines must do something by Weill.

I'm partial to the unknown "Ballad of the Robbers" from KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY because of its political relevance, and "Speak Low" is one great song as well!

Thank you Michael. :D :D :D

Ann, glad all looks well and you are improving on schedule.  Still, take it easy.
Will you still have your job with the children when the family returns?  Good luck finding something full time before then.

Td I’m glad you have Miss Dixie Bell to comfort and give you comfort in return.
