Went out to celebrate Cecil's birthday tonight.

We had the Feed Me special, which was seven small plates of food, which added up to one large meal.

First was an eggplant spread with goat cheese, pine nuts, raisins and sauteed celery.

Second was a mint and dill salad with a kind of deconstructed fig tart.

Thai green beans appeared at the same as a bowl of summer squash with toasted pepitas and chicken livers.

Ricotta cavatelli was served with pesto and pecans. This was perhaps my favorite.

A New York strip steak was served with shavings of black truffle on top. Underneath was a mix of baby corn and kernels of fresh corn.

They forgot Cecil had told them at the beginning that he was corn intolerant, so they brought out a plate of pan-cooked fingerling potatoes with more black truffle shavings on top as an apology.

Dessert was a carrot cake financier topped with a cream cheese semi-freddo.

During the dinner, a thunderstorm whipped up and the rain came down like a monsoon. The two outside tables quickly cleared.

Thai green beans, if they weren't spicy but I suspect they were, sound good.
