Shortly I shall be on my way to the Wood of Holly to do a couple of errands and then to eat PIE with our very own Pogue.

Evening all!

I’m tired tonight.  I don’t know why but I am really, really, really (that’s three reallys) tired.  I guess I didn’t sleep very well.

Bear woke me up about two thirty with little “woofs”.  I asked him if he wanted out and he did go.  I had a heck of a time getting him to come back in.  When he did, he went to the couch instead of back to bed.  He fixed me with such a look as I passed him on my way back to bed.  Life is rough when you tick the dog off.  I can only guess I must have been tossing and turning and disturbed his rest.  Lord, forgive me.   ::)   ;D

I did good at work today.  My boss was trying to run a query using Access but it wasn’t working for her.  I can’t take it when people all stand around offering suggestions to change this or that so I went to my computer, made a copy of what she was working on and fixed it in under five minutes while the rest were still standing around her telling her what to do.  She was very happy.

I bought the DVD of Robert Englund’s version of The Phantom Of The Opera.  I thought it was one of the better ones.

A sad note, I found a dead bird on top of the A-Team van when I came home tonight.  I don't know what happened.

I don’t know the address where the reading is so if someone could give me directions from The Muse?  I could catch a cab and go.  I arrive in NYC at 10:14 AM, Friday, March 18th at Laguardia.

So sorry to hear about the ankle, DR Rodzinski.  I hope your feeling better by now.

DR Ben,  Good vibes for your brother!

If that's the film by the Chiodo boys, they live two blocks away from me, and one of them is married to my friend Margaret's sister.

Yes, Dear Friend BK, it is!  Funny film, but it's really unsettling.  Clowns are not funny, they're frightening, and that's why the film works so well, I think.  I can't imagine anything more horrifying than opening the door at night and finding a clown standing there.

TOD.  I'm kinda torn as well.  There are so many people I would like to meet.

The Grandparents (on both sides), Frank Herbert, Errol Flynn, My three Michaels, Jesus, some of the charactors from Babylon 5, Star Trek, some book charactors, other historical people.....Gee, the list could go on and on and on.

Of course, I am lucky because I WILL have dinner with some the people I want to meet most.  Saturday, March 19th, 2005.   :)

I signed up for amazon prime.  It's somewhat costly ($79 a year) BUT it's free two day shipping on everything you order, whether they can be boxed together or not, no limit.  And, if you need something overnight, it's only 3.99.  So, if you do a lot of amazon ordering (which I have lately) and if you don't like waiting five days to get your stuff IF it's eligible for free shipping, this seems like a good deal.  Given their prices on certain Criterion titles, it's an incredible deal and will pay for itself quickly.  I ordered two new Criterions, thirty percent off, no tax, free 2 day shipping and I'll have them Tuesday.  Had I ordered them yesterday I would have had them tomorrow.  Cool beans.

Poor John Vernon ends up as a living ventriloquist dummy to the klowns in that film.

The problem with inviting Jesus over is, you know, he might overshadow the other guests a bit. :)

All right, I'm on my way over the hill (well, some say I've been on my way over the hill for years), so keep the home fries burning until my returning.

I shall have a full and detailed report for you about PIE.

I've just finished listening to some recordings I made on mini-disk from some special events at the church I used to work at.  A performance of "Jerry's Girls" and a piano dedication/sing-a-long evening.  You may recall that I left that church in June after some not-so-easy and sometime non-existant negotiations.  It was not pretty and I felt like my life was pulled out from under me, etc...

As I listened and chatted with my pal, Raegena, I seem to recall Gretchen Cryer's lyrics "Love is rare, life is strange, nothing lasts, people change" and find that there is no other truer lyric that can describe how I feel.  Life does indeed go on, but sometimes you miss what used to be the "usual".  While the present is just fine as it is, it's tough not to think about and sometimes wish that you could go back to the "usual".  I guess you really "can never go back to before"... what is it with these female lyricists????

Thanks, as always, for letting me vent.

The trip to the mailbox was definitely worth it.  I now have in my procession my monthly issue of AARP.   (For those of you who don’t know, in the States that is an old people’s magazine).

Oh, and I see no one missed me while I was gone.

Watched the last hour of the HAPPY DAYS REUNION....thought it started at nine!

If you were a fan, you will like seeing everyone.  I didn't see MR BK at all - but he may have been in the first hour.  He certainly should have been at the softball game!

Just watched that Happy Days thing as well. The problem with those shows is that they are so montage-oriented, you don't get any of the context that would make any of the individual clips seem very funny. HD was a character and plot-oriented show, especially in its early, finest days. But it all kind of gets reduced to a whirlwind of brief clips in a format like this.

Now, I can listen to actors tell anecdotes all day long, so that part was cool, but heavily edited too.

Anyone else find the reunion of the two actors that played Chuck a little sad for those two guys? I mean, what are they going to say? "I remember being fired after four  episodes."

I forgot to ask Keith if he was interested in watching.  Living on the west coast gave us a second chance-it is set to record.  That way we can skip much of it.

Here's the real question:  Although I know it's not as optimal as Saturday afternoon, how many of you East Coasters would be able to attend a reading/signing on Friday the 18th of March, the eve before PennyO's show?  It would take place probably between 5-7 at The Drama Bookshop.  I know elmore won't go there (and I don't blame him), but I don't want to book it if I can't fill it.

Depending what time I arrive in NYC I will try to make it there.

I find the news about John Vernon very sad.  I know him best from his fine work in TWO MEN and through Panni who was his good friend.

Tonight I attended a meeting where the speaker was the nitrate film specialist from the Library of Congress Motion Picture Conservation Center, which is currently at Wright-Patterson AFB here in Dayton, OH.  He talked about restoration and preservation of film as old as 100 years and about the new facility that LC is building in Culpepper, VA, with financial support from (ready DRelmore?) David Packard.  The ladies in the group asked some questions, but I kept wishing my HHW friends had been there, for some really interesting conversation!

For DR Larry:

As I was transfering my set of Ben Bagley recordings to my hard drive I saw that you worked for him and arranged a song for Joanne Woodward. What was that experience like?

So sad to read about John Vernon. he was actually sexy as all get out in TOPAZ. The best thing about the movie, I thought.
