Ron, have you ever kept a diary or journal? I know you to be a good writer and I've found that writing can be a good way to release negative emotions and discover a clear path ahead.

It's starting to feel like fall here. The nights are cooler, some days are cooler, and it gets dark earlier. I welcome the cooler temps.

For my brilliant free-for-all question o' the day, I'll ask our classical music aficionados if you were ever familiar with the conductor Ferenc Fricsay (1914-1963). Someone posted something the other day that reminded me of him and piqued my interest. I immediately remembered the name, but I'm not sure whether I ever had any of his recordings, so I checked out an old televised rehearsal on YouTube of Smetana's "The Moldau" that was immediately compelling and held my attention throughout. The way he communicates with the orchestra and shapes and balances this relatively simple piece is astounding. Based on that and on a few samples of other pieces, he seems like a really incisive and intelligent conductor. Have to seek out more later.

Severe medical problems (the exact specifics of which are not made clear) took his life at an early age. This is spoken of in the introduction to that televised rehearsal, which even seemed to include warnings that certain moments might be difficult to watch. Oddly, to my eyes and ears, no such thing was in evidence. He seemed to be the picture of great energy and health. Anyway, here's that "Moldau" -- or just do a search for whatever else you prefer to sample:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bky5FHEKZjk

CD sets, too, from the golden years of Deutsche Grammophon -- or DGG, as we used to call it:

Also, I owe y'all a few pictures from the premiere of Family Plot.

I always forget that it was the "big event" of FILMEX '76, but that logo is what you can sort of make out in these:

Apologies for the fact that the faces in these are so blown out by the extreme contrast.

A short interview session, then everyone went into the large Plitt theater to enjoy the movie.

And finally, the prize I came home with...

I keep thinking I had some of his Mozart opera recordings - Seraglio or Magic Flute - at one point, possibly his Fledermaus.  I also think I might have had a recording of Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies.

I've been at home all day doing nothing, but now I'm going to leave.  The cast and crew and friends of Legally Blonde are getting together at a restaurant downtown for food and drinks and karaoke-ing.  I'm not one to partake of the karaoke-ing, but I enjoy watching.  I just need to take a shower (finally) and get dressed, then I'm off.

Be back later.

TCB, the lobster deviled eggs worked out well. Parsley and jalapenos from the garden made them even nicer.

And if it storms, as it's supposed to, we may have a high of only 91 tomorrow.
