I had an interesting evening.

I had a very good dinner and a half-baked murder mystery.

The dinner was served buffet style.

That was fine, but the dinner space was too small to accommodate putting in tables, so they served the dishes on the high counter that surrounded the kitchen.

That meant that anyone shorter than say, 5’ 6”, had no idea what was inside the serving dishes.

They had some nice appetizers of different cheeses, some fruit, deviled eggs, and these giant chilled prawns.

For the dinner they served these incredible steaks covered in Gorgonzola, shrimp scampi (more shrimp) potatoes, asparagus, Caesar salad, and Waldorf salad.

For the cherries, instead of using ice cream, he used a white chocolate truffle.

As for the murder mystery, I am spoiled by the fourteen or so mysteries that I did.

This one started with the murder with no set-up on the victim or any of the suspects.

They then expected the audience to “grill” the suspects after about ten minutes of introducing the characters.

It was basically over after going thru the six suspects and then asking the audience for a vocal vote.

What surprised me was that the performing group was from Seattle, and have apparently done a number of these.

In all fairness, ours are done in usually four scenes; one before dinner, two presented during the meal courses, and then the final one during coffee and dessert.
