Well, tonight's going to be a night!  I'm working concessions for a concert with Stephen Stills and Judy Collins!  Sadly, I won't get to see the whole thing, but I should be able to see most of it.  I guess it's been sold out for quite a while.  I'm sure that it'll be a great concert!

50 years ago, singer-songwriter Stephen Stills met singer-songwriter Judy Collins, known for her piercing ocean blue eyes. Their tumultuous love affair would later be immortalized by Stills with his composition “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash on their landmark debut. Both artists would go on to shape modern music with visionary approaches, but Stills and Collins’ short fiery union remains a transformative era for the two artists.

Now the two icons of folk will celebrate the golden anniversary of their formative time together. Their joint tour marks the first time ever Stills and Collins have been onstage together. For this once in a lifetime experience, the two music legends will pull from their rich catalogs, debut songs from their duet album, and share warm and intimate stories from their journeys and the 1960s folk and Laurel Canyon scenes they helped build.

And on Thursday, I'm working concessions again for a concert by Olympia's own Shoshana Bean!  This concert is not sold out, but fairly full.

Shoshana Bean’s powerhouse vocals are visceral and heartfelt and have earned her numerous Broadway credits, including Elphaba in Wicked, and Fanny Brice in Funny Girl. She navigates effortlessly through a variety of styles, from haunting originals to new arrangements of contemporary hits, and beloved classics. Join us as we kick off our 2018-19 season with an evening of Shoshana’s fresh and soulful spins on the beloved classic American songbook, alongside a collection of her original works from her 2018 album, Spectrum.

I didn't sleep well, but Thatch stayed with me all night.  Annabelle has her new empty cat food carton, and she seems reluctant to leave it.

Joshie does not need me at City Center this week, which is sad since I was hoping I might have some work.  I'll see him on Friday at the orchestra reading.

Don't you have a neighbor who could help withyourlightbulb replacement?  I am concerned about you balancing on a ladder with two curious kitties in the place.  Maybe put them in the bathroom to keep them from being underfoot?

They only seem curious about my being in the kitchen when I open the refrigerator door.

TOD

I can name my three earliest known classical conductors:

Stokowski, from my having seen FANTASIA at an early age.
Bernstein, likely due to his television work, though I'd have to look up dates to see where all of that falls.
Emerson Buckley, as conductor of the local (Fort Lauderdale) symphony.

We had some classical records in the house but they weren't bought because of any conductor. By the time I was buying my own records, Ormandy, Reiner, Leinsdorf and Fiedler were my known ones. I don't think I was much aware of Szell before heading up to school in Cleveland. Also, Isidore Godfrey from D'Oyly Carte recordings. He was just a name, but I was aware. :)

As for popular music or Broadway, I don't really have a clue from my early years. Maybe someone will jog my memory in that department.

I need to get moving for an early walk with my walking partner.  Since we are stopping at our local coffee place I want to mix up some chocolate to put into a mug of steamed milk.

TOD:

Leonard Bernstein - he was always on television talking and demonstrating things....

And in movie musicals there were stage scenes when there was a conductor waving a baton around - I thought that was interesting.  I would sometimes get a small stick and conduct a recording of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.....I was wonderful.
