I need comedy tonight, so I picked up on Woody Allen's Sweet and Lowdown. It's not very funny and the movie's not very good, but the music is wonderful.

This is not the same story as the Warren Beatty version. It's a little more sentimental and, well, funny in a charming Lubitsch sort of way.

The funniest thing about this movie is that Hollywood's idea at the time of 60 is of decrepitude. Don Ameche playing 60 looks older than the real-life older Ameche did in Cocoon.
