I received 3 texts on my phone regarding voting.

The first text was for me.  I deleted the text and blocked the caller.

The second text was for Keith telling him how he could still register to vote.  I then noticed it was from Oregon.  I expect blocking the number saved me from receiving a duplicate text.

The 3rd text was once again for Keith asking if he was going to vote for someone.  Before blocking the number I replied "Not now that you bothered me with this text".

Tuesday morning greetings!  We voted on October 12, so Richard and I are on to other things today.  I have lunch with my DAR friends, after which I'll come home and make the first batch of caramel corn for the AAUW Holiday Bazaar.  Our house will smell good for election returns tonight!

It seems too early for a Holiday Bazaar.

So, Robin, who had never been in a marathon before, finished in 7 + hours.  She isn't a runner, so she walked almost all of it.   I met her as she was walking in Central Park.   I was able to walk with her for about a mile and a half.   We're all proud of her.  Barbra thanked her on Facebook for raising money for the Cedars-Sinai Women's Heart Center.

Afterwards, Robin had arranged a little party for the New York Barbra fans (and me) at the Viand Cafe on Broadway and 75th St. (DR elmore--maybe we can go there sometime when I'm in the City--it's not far from your place, right?).  Most of us had contributed to the fund so she wanted thank everyone for their support.

It seems too early for a Holiday Bazaar.

DR Jane, we sell, among other things, gently used holiday decor.  People like to shop for that stuff now so they can decorate for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.  We also have a nice table of fall items right up front and a lot of items that are considered "re-giftable."  It's also the same weekend a nearby church has THEIR bazaar and we've found people like to have multiple events to patronize.

Very nice, and congratulations to Robin!

Earlier Sunday I saw "The Book of Merman"  --- two Mormon missionaries knock on Ethel Merman's door and hilarity ensues!   It was quite funny and the three performers were all very good.

So, yesterday I got out of the wind and rain and had some soup at Pret a Manger.  I later met Robin at the "Pavilion" in Central Park.  I waited for her as she was in line to have her medal engraved.

I had gone to the Broadway Theatre at about 11 am and got a rush seat for "King Kong the Musical."  The leading lady was very good and there were a couple of nice songs.  King Kong was pretty impressive, even if he needed stage hands (dressed in black pants and black hoodies) to move his hands and otherwise help him move about.  I will say that it was certainly worth the $49 I paid (for a great seat --7th row left side) but I wouldn't have been happy paying much more than that.

Yes, DR vixmom, I think you're right about the hotel prices.  Though Saturday nights are always the highest (I guess Fridays may be just as high), maybe they were especially high because of the Marathon.   I switched to the Doubletree on Sunday and Homewood Suites yesterday.  The prices were much more reasonable than they would have been on Saturday.

I think I love New York City even more after seeing the joyous atmosphere for the Marathon.

Greetings from the car place.

It’s been a while. And that is generally a good thing. But it was time for an oil change.

After this I’m dropping a pair of shoes off to be resoled.

And then I’m off to the voting place.

I have taken the trains between Philly, DC, and NY.  I like the speed train the best.

Then excellent timing and something I would have been interested in when we still celebrated Christmas at home.

These poor people were stranded at the airport because there, supposedly, weren't any hotels available due to the marathon.
