Oh, How could I have failed to mention this...?

I received the copy of Scarlett Street I ordered on the recommendations of several  DR's

I have not had time to peruse it fully, but the letter section sports letters from bk, Susan Gordon, and  DR Pouge!  There are also two articles by MBarnum, a spread on Jeepers Creepers and an interview with DR CP!

I shall try and do some reading tonight.

DR Pouge?  Is that "pouge" as in "rouge"???

Or might it be DR Pogue...."pogue" as in "rogue"!

:D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D

Been there myself....

You wouldn't believe how my last name gets spelled.  Will give vixmom the benefit of the doubt and considered it merely a typo as she has spelled it correctly several times in the past.  And when I first came on, I kept wondering why everyone was referring to each other as "doctor" until BK told me it DR meant Dear Reader...

Well, how shall I use the Word of the Day in a sentence?  Ah, I have it.  The Hippie said, "Hey, dude, where did my BONGO?"

I know Vixmom knows I was having fun with her.  We all type "typos" and despite MY best intentions, I'm always pressing "Post" and later finding I've used a wrong word, spelled a word wrong, or misused something grammatically.

WOD:  "Bedtime for Bongo"!

Change or add one letter to the title of a book or movie or play, and give it a new description:

"To Fill A Mockingbird" -- experiments in Chinese haute cuisine.

In keeping with tradition and the epitome of bad casting, i would suggest Carol Channing for Kim McAfee.

To keep the essence of Paul Lynde, we could have Charlotte Rae or Alice Ghostley as Mr. McAfee.

I don't remember what we did two weeks ago, although I have no memory of doing an "official" bad casting day of Birdie.

What I DO remember is: BONGO!

Excellent use of BONGO in a sentence, Dr. Pogue.

Gray out today, but maybe the sun'll come out at some point.

Thanks! I know how you feel, my name is SO simple Debra Mann  - yet I get Deborah Mahon, Derba Man,  etc.

And when I first came on, I kept wondering why everyone was referring to each other as "doctor" until BK told me it DR meant Dear Reader...

When I first came on I referered to WFO as Dr.Orr, which I often call him because he IS a PHD! Some kind DR corrected me and showed me it should have been Dear Reader!   :D but WFO is, of course, DR Dr. WFO   ;D

DR Ben - What a cool thing you do, recording theatre reviews for the BBC!  I, like DR vixmom, would love to have a CD, if you're into production.

Just got back from guest lecturing on funding research to an English class at the University of Dayton.  In small groups, they've been paired with a real nonprofit organization and assigned to research potential funders and write a proposal.

We could use game show casting and go with

Albert:  Charles Nelson Reilly
Rose:    Betty White
Kim:      Suzanner Somers
Hugo:    Gene Rayburn
Conrad: Wink Martindale
Mae:      Brett Somers

Ann, it's so nice that you've caught up and that you're HERE!

And the word of the day is: BONGO!
Bongo!  What a fun word!  It's quite fun and fancy free!

(Oh!  A Dinah Shore reference!)

Has anybody ever wondered what folks mean when they said that a comic was so funny he left them in stitches?

Does that mean something was ruptured and had to be sewn up?  Did they laugh so hard they busted a gut?  (I know, I know, "burst a gut" is the correct form...gimme a break!).

Could DR Jose's stitch have been caused by laughing too long/too loudly/too much at something WHILE he was taking exercise?

I follow the "stitch of clothing" phrases (ie., and she wasn't wearing a stitch of clothing!!!).

But to "be in stitches" from laughter must have some amazing genesis.

BRUCE--

I know yesterday was Ask BK day, but I have a question.  I'm been meaning to ask this for some time, but I remembered it after you mentioned Mr. Grant Geissman.  Which of his CD's is your favorite?

As for Bye, Bye Birdie casting... -Didn't we just do that a couple of weeks ago?  -My how the time continuum blurs here on HHW.  In any case...
Nope, you're thinking L'il Abner.

Strange, I could have sworn the new Dr. Who will be played by Christopher Eccleston.

Oh, sorry, wrong spelling.   ;D

DR George, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your friends. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the friends and family.

Ladies, you may go for a walk with me any time! Just come, and bring your binoculars!

Today I took the car in for an oil change/lookover. There are several maintenance things needed, which will be done on Monday. Isn't that exciting? This car has never left me stranded and has over 113,000 miles on it, and I am not complaining.

For Jrand54:

So BONGO, BONGO, BONGO, I don't wanna leave the Congo, oh no no no no no
Bingo, bangle, bungle, I'm so happy in the jungle , I refuse to go
Don't want no bright lights, false teeth, doorbells, landlords, I make it clear
That no matter how they coax me, I'll stay right here!

I had to dig out my old 78's stash to find my copy of Ray McKinny and his orchestra doing this and play it on my old wind-up Victrola (that I bought off Ron Pallillo...remember him?) to get the verse.

Glad I did.  Found something I forgot I owned.  A two record album of a 78 recording of Miklos Rozsa's RED HOUSE.

Kerry, do you mean the albums Grant and I did together - his solo albums?  Or do you mean his solo albums pre me?

If you mean the ones we did together, my two favorites are Cinema Romance, a wonderful album of pretty movie themes (perfect for a massage), and Bacharach: The Instrumental Side.

This is today's Millionaire question.  Does anyone know the answer to this? (or where I might find the answer).  THANKS.

When did the tradition of both the bride and groom wearing a wedding band begin in America?

 A. World War II
 B. Stock market crash
 C. Industrial revolution
 D. Marriage of George Washington

I think the question is misleading...possibly deliberate, or possibly because the person asking it doesn't truly understand what he or she has asked.

The "tradition" of double wedding rings started in the Roman Empire and was continued when Christianity began.  It has been a tradition since those times.

However, there was a decline in double ring ceremonies in the U.S. at some point in its early history, primarily because U.S. "men" grew suspicious of men who wore jewelry (gimme a break), but it saw a resurgence during World War II (after the bulk of the U.S. male population finally got exposed to something other than stupidity).

Of all the choices you have, the only logical one is "A", in my opinion.
