Then we ran the cues again, made further adjustments, and then I worked for an hour with the sound guys on music cue levels.

Then the cast arrived.  And guess what?  One of our leads has the stomach flu.  You must understand, I have been saying from the start to stay away from sick people and to take preventatives.   And how did this gal get the stomach flu - hold on to your hats - she works at a day school or day care and some kid had the stomach flu.  If it were me, I would have stayed so far away from said kid and let someone else deal with it or I would have left.  But no, that's too logical and instead we have an actor who is now sick.  I know she wanted to go home but I could not lose the run-through and she stayed, wore a mask so she wouldn't contaminate anyone and didn't touch props or people, so that was good.  I let her go as soon as we were through, which was around eight o'clock.

And I told her she didn't have to come to the cue-to-cue at ten - so she'll come at eleven-thirty for the photo call and then we do the first of our two run-throughs at twelve o'clock.  They'll then have a one hour lunch, and then we'll do the second run at performance level and hopefully we'll be out by four-thirty so everyone can get some rest before the recording session on Sunday morning.  Hopefully it's a 24-hour bug, which is what these things seem to be.

The run-through went pretty well - only a few flubbed light cues, but many more flubbed sound cues - missing sfx, early or late starts on the tracks, but I took notes and all that will be cleaned up at the cue-to-cue in the morning - it's both a sound AND lighting cue to cue.  The lighting looks good, but two instruments are out so those won't be replaced until Monday, so I won't see the actual center light until then.  After notes, I ran a few things and that was that.  Oh, and I informed the company that there are no more run-throughs - just FUN-throughs from now on.  I also blocked the curtain call.

Vibes it is only a 24 hour bug.

Changing run-throughs to fun-throughs sounds like a great idea!

It totally got by me, which is what happens with less than three hours of sleep and getting up at five-thirty and then having an eleven-hour day.  So, happy 17th, even though I thought it was the 18th.  Love you all madly.

Apparently a “live” taping of a performance from the UK.
