I have decorated it several times. Thanks to Leonard, who is happily playing in a paper bag at the moment. Probably with a Christmas ornament.

TOD

My children for Christmas,  for the year a healthy grandchild.

Do you have a grandbaby on the way? Did I miss an announcement?

Nope, only answering the questions "Today’s topic of discussion: If you could have Santa bring you anything, what would it be?";D

This has turned into an unsettling morning.  We have a young African-American USPS delivery truck driver I see maybe twice a year.  He usually leaves packages in the hall under the post boxes, and if I see him, he have a cordial conversation.  Last week I ordered a 20-lb bag of Meow Mix dry cat food, and he rang my bell so I let him in the building.  I was getting sick but I was surprised to see that he brought the bag up to my door.  I made a comment along the lines of "I thought this was coming tomorrow," and then he started hinting about a Christmas bonus.  Today, as I was leaving doe market, he showed up at my door and said, you told me if I came back today, you'd have something for me.  I closed the door and locked it behind me and said, "No I did not."

I used to give my regular postman a bonus, but the local post office is so screwed up, I don't even know who it is these days, but I'm certainly not going to give a bonus to a delivery man I very occasionally see who thinks I should!  I will discuss this with the super when he stops by today to check my bathroom faucet.

I am grateful we have good delivery people here.  Today the special package arrived, Bryan's gift to Keith.  It is very special, a Dulcimer Bryan made using a cigar box.  It is beautiful and rather fancy.  He gave Keith a choice of accent colors and Keith chose gold which is why it is so fancy.  There is more gold than I expected.

Brya added a sweet touch labeling it Mountain Dog.  I about cried at that.

At last, some progress!  The cold has broken and I feel somewhat better.  I actually slept well last night with Thatch at my shoulder and Annabelle at my knees.

Great news, Larry!!

DR George have you ever had the Schwann's before?  I am curious as I have never tried it.

Yes.  It's been a while, though.  But it's pretty good.  Not as big as Costco's, of course. ;)

Yes, and indeed unsettling. That seems a little on the aggressive side, even by NYC standards.

Out here in the 'burbs, I got into the habit of tipping the regular mail carrier each December, and they were always very appreciative. After our last "known" one retired back in 2017, I never saw anyone again often enough to know whether they were the actual replacement or a substitute, so I simply quit and there's been no fallout from that.

Also used to tip the trash pickup man back when we had pickup at the house and I got used to knowing who it was every week. We eventually went to street pickups and literally never see who's doing it, so that's out, too.

Your envelope arrived in today's post.  The truck deliveries are for packages and are not the same as the route walked daily by the postmen.

That's from ten in the morning to three in the afternoon.

Frankly, I wish that's how the whole winter would run this year.

Today I have made a huge batch of Lemon Lime Jello Pineapple Cottage Cheese Surprise (another of Richard’s favorites) for tomorrow and the rest of the week, put a cranberry-glazed pork roast into the crockpot for tonight’s dinner, helped Santa Richard fill the stockings, and decorated 4 dozen shortbread cookies.  Just have to set the dining room table for the dinner we’re going to have with Rob and Mary Linda after church this evening.

Last night's party was ... well, the same as it is every year, but this year everyone just seemed especially up for it, present company included. Food, libation, and company were all great, and there were even two newly adopted (rescued) 5-month-old kittens to visit in the bathroom, their safe space for their first big gathering with company. I'll have to get that picture posted, too.

One shocking bit of news which began making the rounds was that one of our favorite couples there was either going through a rough time and "thinking" about separating, or indeed might have already begun that process. Sadly, it was confirmed this morning that divorce proceedings are indeed underway. They have three lovely children that they are both totally devoted to, so it's going to be an especially tough go. Both husband and wife are two of our finest regional actors, and he is a fine director. It's not a take sides kind of thing. We can only wish them both the best, and be there for support when needed.

Here we go. A little girl, and her brother peeking out from the carrier. Long haired black kitties, don't know if any special breed. And like all black cats, hard to photograph well.

They were permitted to join the party later when the crowd had thinned out. They already get along fine with the two large labradors -- who in turn are used to anything and everything that walks in, as it's a VERY animal friendly household.

Considering how rich cheese cake it smaller might be better ;)  The important question is which tastes better.
