I'm up, I'm up - did not sleep well at all, so maybe about four or five hours of sleep, tops.  Darling Daughter is on her way.

I saw the K's Donuts (spelled exactly the same as the one I love) in Studio City about a year ago when I was seeing something at Theatre West.  I was confused by it, frankly, and the next day went to the real K's and asked if they'd opened a second branch - they said no and they weren't too happy that someone was using their name - clearly the Studio City location is trying to use the very well known (in the Valley) K's name to confuse.  Why else would anyone want to have the same name as another donut store that's only three or four miles away?

Christmas Day greetings!  We had a nice celebration with Rob and Mary Linda last night, starting with a lovely service of Lessons and Carols at their church.  The cranberry pork roast was done when we got home and Mary Linda put together the sides - Brussels sprouts and a delicious macaroni and cheese with bacon, apples, and goat cheese.  After dinner we opened presents and stockings until everyone was ready to crash.

This morning Richard and I saw the kids off to Michigan, opened our presents from each other, cleaned up our kitchen, and got ourselves ready for the day.  We put a stuffed turkey breast in the oven and green bean with ham to simmer on the stove.  Within the hour we’re expecting great nephew J, along with his mom and grandma.  After J’s dad picks him up we’ll have a nice quiet grownups dinner.

Gosh, I hate to wrap presents!

The only thing I hate more than wrapping presents is buying gift bags!

(I wouldn't mind wrapping presents if I was better at it.)

TCB - Yes, very much, though I long for a write-up (as  I wish there had been for "Funny Girl") of the dramatic reasons that some changes to the real story were made.  I totally understand why we never see Chaz or Elijah Blue, but I was surprised that the show makes it feel like Mike Nichols' directing her in "Silkwood" in the 1980s was her first film. But I guess that was needed dramatically, and Cher must have ok'd that dramatic license.

I estimate the the number of people who thought about that, including me, may have been - maybe one.  :)

But I really recall liking that movie "Good Times" from the 1960s.  They were apparently in a brief period where they may have become too square for their fans, per wiki.  The box office was bad.   William Friedkin, White directed, had said he'd made better-received  films but none where he had a better time making it).

Or that the film Robert Altman  made of the stage flop Cher was in "Come Back to the 5 and Dime, Jimmy Dean..." somehow had a big reversal in critical regard, when the film was surprisingly good and Cher's performance even got some real notice that exceeded what had been felt onstage.

And I guess since it's Christmas, I wish they had mentioned that Rob Camiletti did not walk out of her life, that he reportedly spent a good number of Christmases together after they broke up with Cher and her family.

But that probably wouldn't have occurred to me as missing if it weren't December.  :). The way they'd deal with that works really well as drama.

I used what was really a birthday--"Celebrate!"--gift bag for one gift. I was sure I had Christmas gift bags, so I didn't inventory. Yes, I had them, but they were the small ones and the present wouldn't fit. Sigh. I doubt that anyone will notice. Must remember to buy LARGE Christmas gift bags.

Altman's film proved that a good performance can be assembled from a lot of takes.  Cher stank onstage in Come Back To The Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, which also stank as a play.  It was one of those post-Virginia Woolf dramas in which not one, but every damned actress onstage, got an everything-but-the kitchen-sink over-the-top emotional moment to confess that her life was a sham. Day-um, it was a piece of crap.  Sandy Dennis did her rabbity shtick, but I liked Kathy Bates, and Sudie Bond walked off with the honors the night I saw it.

Thanks to DR AMY for the "do" report.

Glad DR TCB is feeling better.

Thanks to all for the vibes.  I am doing pretty good.

I had a Western Omlette this morning....No DR JANE it is the ORIGINAL....it is the local BlueBerry Hill Pancake House.....with no known antecedents that I know of....

Well, we are several hours behind schedule today. I went to pick up Wae-Ling and found I had a flat tire. I came back to get our other vehicle, and shortly after I left the second time, I got a call from the neighbor that there was someone banging on my door and shouting. We drove around a long while, afraid to go home. The consensus was that I was going to have to face the situation. It went surprisingly well, considering.

So now we are behind in our cooking. Sigh.

After my talk with Randy and Jo, the cats and I lay on my bed and watched TV.  Our talk has me thinking about relocating to Ohio, since I'm feeling more than I have in the past four years that my career is careering to an end.  If I'm going to live in poverty with two cats, I can do it cheaper in Ohio.  I've spent part of the day pondering the logistics: Medicare and my HMO, living space, Annabelle's Broadway ambitions . . .

Merry Christmas to all my new friends here at HHW, also to dear cats and birds and other assorteds.  Health vibes for all and theater vibes for all that still do them.  Eat well today as Christmas meals have no calories.  DR Vixmom, would you be willing to share the cranberry pork roast recipe?  It sounds wonderful.
