Robyn Hitchcock was really entertaining. Imagine the folks from Monty Python as a singer-songwriter. He had some truly bizarre stories and songs. And though there were only 100 people in the small theater (which holds anywhere from 200-250), they were rabid fans.

The only trouble was, he had told the theater he would perform for 90 without intermission. Instead, he performed for 2.5 hours with an intermission. It was long.

And now, I must get my butt (and the rest of me, too) in bed.  I'm going to the exhibition hall (meaning no-cost) portion of the ALA Midwinter Conference in Seattle with some co-workers, and the van leaves at 8:00 a.m.  After I get back, my friend Margo and I are going to the movies, so I'll be gone the whole day.  But I'll be back later.

I'm jealous, DR George, and hope you and your colleagues have a great time in the exhibit hall.  It's not, however, no-cost.  An exhibit pass for Midwinter is $60 and for Annual, $75, and Richard gladly pays those fees when he goes to conference with me.

I didn't know that "regular folks" (meaning non-library workers) could pay to go.  I had fun...except for having to carry all the books that I took.  I got a total of 41, count 'em, FOURTY-ONE books!

I also got some pens, and bags, and stickers, and pads of paper, and a t-shirt.

I still have the magnetic paperclip holder I got.  I might have picked up a book and a few little items.  I wasn't there all that long and turned down tons of stuff, but then I didn't want to pack too much in my suitcase.

I didn't know you have to pay for the exhibit hall since Keith walked me in the one time I went.

Yes, DR Jane, vendors have exhibit floor access and (so I’ve heard) sometimes distribute passes to customers.  I was never connected enough to receive those kind of perks.

I would love to be in Seattle this weekend, but Richard still requires post-op eye drops and I’m his nurse.  We’re starting to make plans to go to the annual conference in Washington, DC, in June.

Yes, Richard's eyes are more important.

I don't think Keith had too much trouble getting me in.  I doubt he even knew I should have paid.  I only went the one day and he told me a specific time to be there.   It was the only one I ever got to go to and I loved it.

Personally, I think exhibit floor visitors should be “sponsored” by someone registered for the conference.  There are a lot of self-proclaimed book bloggers who visit just to get the free books and they’re really grabby and greedy.

Every time I was offered something I explained I was just a visitor and tried to decline.  They all said it was ok and insisted.

Keith often took a book or two home for me when he knew I would want it.  Mostly he was working and didn't have much time to play.

For me finally seeing the event and what Keith did at these events was very exciting.

New Orleans was the perfect city for my one and only experience.

One morning I took a boat tour of the Bayou.  Everyone else on the tour was a librarian.

I want to take Keith back to New Orleans so he can do the boat tour.

Interesting collection of books.  I look forward to seeing more.

Watched two documentaries, had salad with some shrimp in it here (from Gelson's) and went through the commentary and fixed a few things, then printed it out.

Then I wrote the notes so they can go up right at midnight, so I can get as much sleep as possible.
